Unfortunately, a billing issue and unprofessional management handling overshadowed what should have been a completely positive birthday experience.
The restaurant advertises “Celebrate your birthday with a free dinner (some restrictions may apply).” For my birthday meal, I ordered chicken with scallops and was told the scallops would be added as a side. I understood this to mean a smaller portion or a standard upcharge.
Here is the issue clearly stated:
• My $19 chicken hibachi entrée was comped as my birthday meal
• An additional $11 “side of scallops” was added to the bill
• This made the total cost of my meal $11
• If my entrée had not been comped, the meal would have totaled $30
That pricing exceeds any comparable hibachi combination on the menu. The highest scallop combination listed is $29, meaning the pricing structure used would have resulted in a higher charge than listed menu offerings.
When I questioned this, the manager Paris stated that because my entrée was free, she did not see the issue. The issue is that side pricing is not disclosed anywhere on the menu, and customers are not informed that adding a protein as a “side” could cost more than ordering a listed combination.
I asked Paris to show me where side pricing is listed. She could not, because there is no section on the menu that discloses side costs. This lack of transparency is misleading.
Only after further discussion did Paris offer half off the scallop charge, reducing it to $5.50, but by that point the concern was no longer about the amount — it was about unclear pricing, inconsistent application of the birthday promotion, and how the situation was handled.
What was most disappointing was management conduct. Paris attempted to shift responsibility onto our waitress, which Vinn professionally refused. No employee should be placed in that position. When I asked for someone above Paris, I was told upper management was located in Texas, with no escalation option offered.
To be clear:
• Food quality was good
• Service from Vinn was excellent
• The hibachi chef was outstanding and made the night fun
• Management communication and pricing transparency were not
This review is being left in hopes that management addresses side pricing disclosure and improves how customer concerns are handled. With clearer policies and better communication, this restaurant could easily be a 5-star experience.
I ordered the filet which was tender and full of flavor. My husband ordered the steak and scallops, it was fresh and cooked to perfection.
You start with the soup and salad both were fresh and tasted great , the cook comes out to cook the rest in front of you. The cook was an older gentleman who cooked everything perfectly however lacked on the showmanship.
Other than that I will be going back there.
I called earlier the same day to let them know we would have a party of 13 at 7:30 PM. I was told they could not take a reservation without us being present, yet when we arrived we were told that we should have called ahead and made a reservation. We did try, and the conflicting information caused completely unnecessary issues before our evening even began.
Once seated, we continued to feel unwelcome. Our order was incorrect, and although the chef corrected the mistake, the pricing remained the same even after adjustments. My daughter’s birthday meal was only partially discounted even after I provided the proper documentation. For a $200 dinner, we expected at least basic courtesy and consistency.
The service from our waitress, Jenna, was especially unprofessional. She was visibly rude without reason, argued with the chef in front of our entire table, and her attitude set the tone for the entire visit. Even when the chef arrived, the grill had not been turned on, so he had to walk away and wait for it to heat up before he could cook. This level of disorganization, combined with poor customer service, made what should have been a special celebration extremely disappointing.
We have always chosen this restaurant for family occasions, Our daughter has made it a tradition to celebrate here for dinner instead of having a party, but after this experience we are genuinely unsure if we will return. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, addresses the customer service issues, and ensures that future guests are treated with more professionalism and respect.
