Flanigan’s is a laidback family-run restaurant anchored by a commitment to exceptional food and drink, warm hospitality, great value, and good fun. A beloved South Florida institution since 1959, the Flanigan’s name is pretty much synonymous with good times. The founding vision of Joe “Big Daddy” Flanigan – a come one, come all, home-away-from-home for friends old and new – is alive and well today. Over the years, Flanigan’s evolved from popular Big Daddy’s lounges and liquor stores into a group of over 20 restaurants. The design of our bars and restaurants is all about the island vibes and saltwater adventures that reflect our deep South Florida roots. And, oh yeah, those Legendary Baby Back Ribs…
American eats & seafood are served at this local chain restaurant & sports bar with plenty of TVs.

The positives first: the location is new, comfortable and very cool, with the same fun, nautical Flanigan’s décor, big TVs and a great terrace so you know exactly what to expect when you walk in. The full rack of baby back ribs was excellent—juicy, well‑sauced and cooked just right—and the classic menu of chowder, salads, ribs and bar food favorites is still a winner.
Where things fell apart was the flow of service and basic prep. We ordered something very simple—New England clam chowder, a Caesar salad and a full rack of ribs to share—yet the ribs arrived first with no soup or salad, which surprised even our server. The salad showed up later with the runner, but there was no BBQ sauce on the table even though every other table had one, so it took another trip back inside just to get the standard bottle.
Only after a couple of back‑and‑forths did we find out the chowder still wasn’t ready; for a chain where items like clam chowder are a staple, that kind of miscommunication between kitchen and runner is frustrating. By the time the soup was finally available, we were already into the ribs and ended up having the chowder almost like dessert because we were sitting outside and didn’t want it to get cold in the wind. On top of that, the famous curly fries this time were mostly little C‑shaped bits, like we got the bottom of the basket, which took some fun out of the plate.
Our server stayed polite and tried to smooth things over, but these issues weren’t about attitude, they were about operations—table not fully set, courses out of order, kitchen not communicating that an item wasn’t actually ready. In a packed, chaotic service you might be more forgiving, but the dining room wasn’t at that “wall‑to‑wall” level this visit, so it stands out even more.
Because the space is beautiful, the ribs were spot‑on and Flanigan’s as a concept is still a no‑brainer for casual ribs and drinks, I’m giving this location three stars instead of lower—but it’s meant as a wake‑up call. Tighten up the coordination between kitchen, runners and servers, and this Miramar spot could easily deliver the five‑star experience the brand is known for
I have been back many times since that experience. Most of the time all is good. However I have had several negative experiences when ordering the barbecued chicken. In most cases the breast meat is completely dry with some areas so hard that I’m certain I’d loose a tooth or two if I were to accept the challenge.
My advice when choosing to dine at this location, enjoy the beer and drinks, the firecracker shrimp, the fall off the bone ribs, and those oh so buttery garlicky rolls.
But STAY AWAY FROM THE CHICKEN!!
Thanks Justin at the bar service was unique.
