Lupita and team are great people making great food.
My only suggestion (if you’re reading this, Lupita) is to please consider wrapping the tamales to go in butcher paper rather than Styrofoam. It would be just as cheap and also more environmentally friendly. We didn’t need the Styrofoam container. 🙂

Had lunch here on a beautiful September day. Ate food outside in the shade of one of the many trees near La Fonda del Santuario. Had traditional food from the region and it was delicious. The owner is very welcoming and helped us make delicious on the food. Try the lemonade, it’s great!

Lupita and her team are fantastic! Blue corn tortillas and guacamole made while you wait. Amazing pork and red chile and potato and cheese gorditas. A great place to grab a quick bite and support local business!

The boy that was at the cash register was very kind and helpful, he even gave someone directions to the gift shops when they asked. I really enjoyed the vegetarian Mexican breakfast burrito it was delicious!!!! I got Horchata and it was amazing!!! Overall good food and kind staff.

Authentic NM food! Even if you aren’t visiting the sanctuary, La Fonda is a great restaurant in Chimayo. Fresh tamales, gorditas and tacos among other items. If you are visiting the sanctuary the flavors fit right in with the history,honor and respect that make Chimeyo what it is.
