Can’t wait to come back!
We wanted to go out here to enjoy the halftime show with the public, and a few of us enjoy football, but the main reason for coming was to see the halftime show. Service was slow, but as fast as it could be on Super Bowl Sunday, and all the staff we talked to were great as usual. Food and drinks were also great as usual.
But the MILLISECOND the half time show started, all volume on all the dining room TVs was cut off. It seemed on purpose, and my entire party and people around us were convinced it was, because the ads right before the halftime show began, had no problems with volume. Not sure why the staff would’ve done that purposely; could be them trying to get control of a rowdy bar so people don’t go crazy as soon as the performance began, or someone among staff didn’t like Bad Bunny being the performer; again I have no idea and it could’ve been any reason.
But the ads played entirely smoothly, then the halftime show started immediately after an ad ended, and suddenly the volume just so happened to stop working right in between the ad and the performance? There was no skipping/noise cutting off at the end of the prior ad?…
All the staff seemed very calm for a major technical issue taking place on one of their busiest days of the year. And seriously, people who never watch football tuned in, SPECIFICALLY for the halftime show this year. So I paid $100 to reserve two tables, and then paid a required 20% gratuity for my party size to enjoy the halftime show with good food/drinks, just to miss a 1/4 of it and the first two songs?
After that, we were just not feeling it and paid our tab and left in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Honestly a major let down, especially for a business that’s been open for so long and I expected to be on top of their game for the Super Bowl.
I came in with my 10-year-old, and when we arrived, the waitress told us it was open seating, so we sat down. Before I could even place an order, she asked for my debit card to be placed on file. I already felt a type of way when she mentioned it, since I wasn’t sitting at the bar and had never been asked to do that before ordering. She explained it was because “we have a lot of runners who like sitting in this part of the restaurant” and that some people have left without paying. I understand the concern, but at that point, it made me feel like I wasn’t welcomed or trusted as a paying customer.
After about 35 minutes, our food came out — in to-go boxes. The waitress said, “I don’t know why they did that, but enjoy!” I was in shock that my food was brought out in to-go containers. I felt a bit offended and tried not to make a big deal about it in front of my daughter, but at that point, I no longer felt comfortable. Then when I asked for condiments, it was also brought in a to-go container. It honestly felt like we weren’t welcomed to dine in.
She never once came back to my table to check if we needed anything else- I came to her- she was constantly coming to the section to my left. By this point I’m ready to leave this place. Before I did, I asked the other guests seated in my section if they had to leave a card before ordering, and they said only after. That inconsistency in attention made me feel even more overlooked and unwelcome.
I requested to speak with management, but there was no availability at the time. The waitress first directed me to the bar manager, who was nowhere to be found, and then to the outside manager, who she spoke to for about five minutes before returning. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable discussing my concerns since I wasn’t sure what had been said — and the waitress still didn’t know what my complaint was going to be.
The food itself was pretty basic — nothing special — and the overall experience left a lot to be desired. I hope management looks into the consistency of service and how concerns are handled so that all customers — especially families — feel comfortable and welcomed when dining in.
The food is good, Service is hit or miss sometimes you get a good server other times you don’t.
What I don’t like is the sneaky hidden extra fees for this and that.
$13 for a burger which I thought customarily “came with fries” which is common for most restaurants but no not here… read closely fries are extra and anything else besides the burger and bun is an extra charge. I will say generous amount of fries thank goodness since I paid extra for them. I had to double take my bill how the math got higher than what I expected. I don’t
Like to sweat the small stuff when going out to eat but it’s kinda irritating you feel a little bit set up.
**Notice if you’re in a large party be aware you will be automatically charged for large group gratuity I think 8+ automatically included and you’re not made aware by a sign or anything so when they slap it on that’s catches you by surprise too.
Even after all this said I really like this place always have. Just a bit disappointed about the extra sneaky fees especially when they do such a good amount of business why!?
The Mahi Mahi tacos are loaded with flavor. The burgers are big , flavorful and not overwhelming. Their selection of beers on tap are exactly what you will be looking for. Right across the street from the IB pier (about 100 yards ) with patio seating that looks out to the beach. The staff is super friendly. It’s self seating. Don’t forget to purchase one of their famous shirts on the way out….
