The best part of Goemon Bento is the freshness and lightness you feel after lunch! It’s a simple bento box but each ingredient feels fresh!

Ordered Chicken Katsu goemon bento with Vegetable roll. Perfect pairing with Macaroni salad, edamame and white rice. The Katsu was perfect, crispy on the outside and juicy chicken. The tamarind type sauce along with box was good!

Chicken Karaage goemon bento was great, the chicken was super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Extremely good Japanese bento box. Sushi was delicious, mac & cheese was a nice treat, chicken and rice were done perfectly. The woman at the counter was very friendly and the food was prepared very quickly. Would absolutely go here again for a quick to-go dinner.

Didn’t realize this wasn’t a sit down place. Really wanted to try the Mac salad but it’s made with pork and they can’t make a batch without. But the chicken katsu bento was great! The subbed the pasta salad for a green salad. The sauces for each component perfectly complemented the dishes. I loved the fact that they had inari- I had been craving it for a while!

This is my favorite Japanese bento spot! Their food is made with love, and you can truly taste the quality and care in every bite. I’ve tried many of their bentos, and they never disappoint—always fresh, flavorful, and delicious!

The best Japanese rice meals in town come from this place. They have a strong Japanese-bias authenticity, which means their food are not too “Americanized”. Japanese is my favorite cuisine, and this is one of the best I’ve had here in WA. This is my guilty pleasure, and I come here a lot (sometimes daily, or every other day).

Japanese curry is my favorite curry, and they do it right, with their katsukarē (offered in both tonkatsu and chicken katsu). It reminds me Kyoto for some reason. I have tried almost all their entrées, and I am delighted to say that I have never been disappointed.

While their more American-friendly breaded food like tempura, katsu, and furai (fry) entrées are fine (definitely better than anything in the area), their rice bowls are where it’s at. They do offer a variety of food that others are too afraid to serve like saba (mackerel) and kaki (oyster). Even their pork belly “ton toro” bowl is a treat.

I also love their bento entrées, as they come with macaroni salad. This one is definitely a Filipino-Hawaiian influence. They’re bigger bento do come with maki instead. They also sell a variety of Japanese snacks, and even some cold Ramune’s.

The only real thing I do not like is the small menu — although that is not necessarily a bad thing. I do however wish they have katsudon/oyakodon, and some ika or tako (squid/octopus — gotta love those tentacles!) entrées.

Finally, the staff are great, they always smile and will definitely remember your name.

This place food is always great and fresh. Recently tried their goemon bento with teriyaki chicken and tempura shrimp. Everything was delicious. Tempura was so crispy and light. Each accompaniment was good.
And how come people are not taking about their cheese cake slices, it tasted light, less on sugar and wow!

I got the makunouchi bento, it was incredibly good. It’s hard to find traditional Japanese food around here, but bento-ya goemon has it.
Staff was very nice and even humored me while I tried to practice my basic Japanese. I will be coming back here for more!

I love this place! They have a reliable online takeout system and accurate pick up time (usual 30 minutes after placing an order). They have a wide selection of home cooked bento style Japanese food from meat to fish. The food taste is less sodium flavor which I love. The people are very friendly and well aware of social distancing (i.e. one customer inside at the time) and cleanliness (i.e. clean vs. used pen to sign).

I have missed traditional bento boxes for so long. This place is amazing with lots of options to choose from and modifications if you need them. The service has always been friendly and accommodating. I will be trying many different bento in the future.

Small and unassuming but delivers in customer service and quality! You’ll pay more or less the same at teriyaki joints around the area but the quality here sets it apart for me. I generally do not like any dark meat for katsu but the chicken was so tender and juicy! The salmon for the sushi was fresh and delicious. The Mac salad was so refreshing and the pasta was al dente – best I’ve had at even any Hawaiian places.
Could you get more food for your money elsewhere? Probably. Is it going to be as high quality and well prepared? Probably not.
I got the lunch bento with katsu and a salmon roll and it was perfection! Will be back whenever I’m in the area.
