We are delighted to have transformed our restaurant offering a relaxed dining experience with lobsters! Guernsey benefits from an abundance of fresh and seasonal produce. Our menus endeavour to make the most of our local larder. Fresh local shell fish and fish, locally sourced dairy, cheeses and vegetables are at the heart of our menu. Food was delicious as always. Nonetheless, the service was not – even close – as great as it used to be.
We arrived closer to 2pm, and the room did not seem intensely busy. It did not take long to order and about 30 minutes till the starters were brought to the table. The food was nice and tasty as usual; however, the service was slow and somehow indifferent. We finished the starters and waited almost another half hour minutes for the main to arrive, during that time no one came to clear the table nor to remove the starters’ plates and silverware, even though enough waiters were walking around in a slow pace. So, it was not a surprise when the steaks came to the table and there was not enough room for them. That said, it was us who had to rescue the waitress with the hot steaks in her hands by pilling up the used starters’ plates and silverware to make room for the mains. Finally, in order to keep up with this level of attention to detail, the pile of starters’ plates and silverware were kept on the middle of the table almost till the end of our meal to be taken back to the kitchen.
Again, the steaks were truly enjoyable, and it bothers me to give a less than great review, but I believe it is something easily adjusted for a next time.
