The food was ok. Plenty of TVs to watch a game. When it’s time to pay, the servers bring an electronic credit card reader that lists tip options starting at 20%, which for the mediocre service they provided, seemed particularly mismatched. I would recommend going to the Ale house instead. Much better service there.

Good spot to hang out with friends for a game day. They had a variety of drinks and food options. Got the big papi and black bean burger, both tasted good. Got the fried pretzel as appetizer which was ok. The service was fast and friendly staff.

There are TVs everywhere you turn, so you can see every game no matter where you sit! It’s great! They honor every sport, so there is memorabilia everywhere too. They offer a variety of food and drinks with so many beers on tap it’s insane. The menu is not your average bar menu- the burgers are very unique and everything on the menu was named after an athlete or sports event. Sydney, our server, was very knowledgeable and made some great recommendations. She told me the tacos were good, but they were actually amazing! I got the Mahi tacos and house made chips. She was also very attentive and we enjoyed talking to her! We will definitely be back soon!

The Buffalo chicken dip was good. The margaritas were decent ($14 a pop for top shelf tequila). The big issue here is charging a credit card surcharge (2.98%) without telling customers (added to bill). That’s so not cool. Also, the employees including the bartender looked bored out of their minds.

The Dugout Tavern & Grill is an absolute gem! The kind of place that immediately feels like your new favorite hangout. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is electric yet laid-back, with a massive video wall perfect for catching the game, and an atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between lively sports bar and casual community spot. The menu offers all the classics you crave, like perfectly crispy wings, juicy burgers, and loaded fries, nachos, but with just enough creativity to keep things interesting. What truly elevates the experience, though, is the staff – they’re friendly, attentive, and genuinely seem to enjoy creating a great experience for every guest.

Whether you’re playing a game of pool, throwing darts, relaxing with friends, or catching a big game on the wall, great place all around. It’s rare to find a place where the energy, food, service, and setting all hit the mark, but The Dugout delivers on all fronts. If you’re looking for a go-to spot for game nights, date nights, or casual get-togethers, this is it. Can’t wait to go back!

Three Strikes, You’re Out: Consistently Disappointing Service
I truly wanted to love this place and gave it three separate chances during the course of a month, hoping things would improve. Unfortunately, my experiences consistently fell short of basic expectations.
First Visit:
We didn’t receive any plates for our appetizer (we asked for them, waiter forgot?), so my group and I had to eat messily straight from the serving tray spilling some while making a table mess. –but no worries, I did not complain, hey it’s bar food, watch the game.
Second Visit:
We were left waiting for refills for an extended period, even though the restaurant was far from busy. Tracking down our server became a guessing game, and we felt largely ignored, but no sensitivity here, I am just thirsty and ready to spend! –but no worries, I did not complain.
Third Visit:
This visit was the most disappointing. This time, I asked for plates and ordered the nachos, and it arrived without any cutlery or napkins (we asked for it and patiently waited and waited). We just carried on and enjoyed the game, but eventually had to get up to fetch napkins ourselves before cutlery arrived. -but, no worries, let’s just eat and watch the games… At this point, since I could not see my waiter, I went ahead and asked another staff member to please have the manager stop at our table for a quick chat… The manager, Fallon, came over with a smile and was apologetic as she explained that there are many new staff members. I appreciated her candor, but explained that by the third visit, it was clear that these repeated lapses were not isolated incidents, but simply training opportunities for the staff. After the manager left, our waiter returned and said they ran out of cutlery, and I gently suggested that communicating delays would improve the experience rather than leaving guests waiting while their food cooled, and I went ahead and grabbed the napkins myself which would have been helpful as they were such a short distance away, but I self served… then with about a third of our nachos left, our waiter picked up the plate without asking if we were finished. Keep in mind, I eat Bar Food frequently, so I am no germophobe, but this was frustrating since the remaining nachos were piled with cheese in the center, I mean that’s the heart and the best part of the nachos! At that point, after three consecutive visits with missed basics—plates, napkins, cutlery, refills, timely service—I simply lost the desire to make this my hang out. I was hopeful this would become a regular spot, but after striking out three times, it’s hard to justify our return for the time being.
Summary:
Friendly management, and staff overall, but service fundamentals are consistently lacking. I hope things improve for future guests.

An enjoyable dinner sitting outside with the family on their screened in porch. Angus was a friendly attentive server and we all enjoyed our meals. Menu offerings are named after familiar sports players from a variety of sports, so remember who your entree was named for. The mix of customers was comfortable and included a few people sitting at the bar, guys having a beer, and several families with children. We’ll have to try sitting inside on one of our next visits which I think will be soon.

as my past reviews will prove, I do not often give a 5 star. I used to think I was becoming cynical, as so many places just arent that great, to be honest……but occasionally a place does it right. Dugout has great selection of drinks, including inexpensive beer options, good specials and the food! wow- everything we have tried so far has surprised us as to how good it was. Surprised to hear this was part of the abby road chain, as Ive always found them to be rather lame and unbelievably overrated..anyway… solid sports bar atmosphere food and drink. seriously, best ive seen in apex (where I visit) Holly Springs (where I lived for 10 years, near way overrated myway tavern) and Fuquay (where I live now) I now drag my friends up here for this place. I hope it doesnt change!! as far as the owners reply…the abbey road location I was referring to went out of business. in no way was it anything like dugout. the food, service and atmosphere was just bad. the people spoke. its now a mexican restaraunt. Im moving to chapel hill soon, but will travel to apex for football games from time to time. i really dont think theres a better sportsbar in the triangle.
