If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in New Providence, this is the place! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely care about your experience.
The food is absolutely delicious — fresh ingredients, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The tacos were perfectly seasoned, and the margaritas were amazing! You can tell everything is made with love and quality in mind.
Highly recommend for date night, family dinner, or even just a casual lunch. We will definitely be back!

The food was amazing and the service and environment were extraordinary. On top of being a fabulous lunch, the check was way less than I expected!
I strongly recommend this extraordinary restaurant.

I love this place. This is our go to for special days out to dinner with the family. The food is great! Even their more simple dishes or lunch specials HIT THE SPOT. You will always be met with friendly staff, cute decor and excellent music making the atmosphere just perfect. Their sauce and chips are great, and their chicken soup appetizer is to die for. You have to check it out.

We found Jose’s during the pandemic and it was some of the best Mexican food around. At the time they did delivery to us almost a half hour away. Eventually, they stopped going so far for deliveries, which was sad. We tried a few places closer that we could get delivery for and… Its just not even comparable. So every few weeks or so we order and drive ourselves over to pick it up. Its so worth it. They have some of the best beans, very flavorful, and I particularly enjoy the tamales. My fiance loves the chile relleños. The guacamole is great, even the chips and salsa is worth it. The staff is so nice as well. If youre sick I recommend the chicken soup, it is so good seriously.

I’m surprised this place isn’t rated a little better! I had the most amazing asada taco here and my partner loved his steak tacos! I will admit the service was verrry slow when I went even though it wasn’t busy in the front. Plus the chips and salsa aren’t very good. The chips taste stale and the salsa had big chunks of green onion in it, which I kind of liked but it wasn’t something I’d eat too much of. But the entree itself and atmosphere were both great.

Love the atmosphere and authentic Mexican food. Andy the owner was so accommodating and prepared a delicious grilled chicken and rice platter for me. You can enjoy a quiet dinner and never feel rushed. It’s a great place for enjoying a nice meal and getting together with friends. Highly recommend !

Interesting hole-in-the-wall with unique twists on Mexican cuisine. The liberal use of canela (cinnamon) in select dishes, such as the sautéed mushrooms and beef tacos, might overwhelm some palates. While intriguing, the rare canela infusion lingered on our taste buds longer than expected.

This was probably one of the worst Mexican places I have been to. I grew up in New Providence and always heard good things until I tried it for myself tonight 5/5/25. We got the nachos, and then 2 combination meals.
Let’s start with the nachos. The cheese had no flavor and the ground beef had very little as well. It tasted very cheap.
The combinations. One was missing food and the other was fine. The rice was bland. Beans were fine I guess. The cheese was the same one, bland and tasteless. The sauce was not flavorful.
We didn’t even finish our food… actually COULDNT.
My stomach was hurting half way through the meal and I actually felt sick to my stomach and was sick. Same with my boyfriend.
Now the service… probably the worst service I’ve seen. We had two waiters. One took the appetizer order while another came and took our entree. Then the original guy came back and asked us what we wanted. To say the least we were definitely confused. Then they just disappeared. We got our waters refilled once and no one asked if we needed anything or if there was anything wrong with our meals when we received them and throughout the course of our 40 minute stay. They were all sitting at a table or in the back of the house chatting with themselves or other people who came to hangout and were not guests.
To end this review…. Not worth the money or time. (Plus they decided to round up your order if they feel like it, which they did to us, we did the math but we needed to get out asap) Sorry for the negativity but it needed to be said.

I got the fish tacos for pick-up. It was a pretty typical platter of rice, beans, and main. They do give you chips and salsa with any order. However, that was my minus one star because although included they were not good. I love chips and salsa but the chips were very stale and salsa watery. The main dish was good. I like the relish veg they put in the tacos.
