First time here, and it was a great experience overall! No wait, comfy seating, and a really nice atmosphere. The mango lassi was tasty, though I wish it were a bit colder. The garlic naan was incredible — soft, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The tandoori chicken was the absolute star — juicy, flavorful, and served with an amazing sauce. The chicken tikka masala was also delicious but could’ve used more chicken since there was a lot of sauce. The goat curry wasn’t really for us — a little fatty and had more bones than expected — but everything else made up for it.

Definitely a solid spot for great Indian food. I’d come back just for that tandoori chicken!

Sankalp – The Taste of India is an outstanding restaurant with authentic and delicious food. A special thanks to Aatish, Chief Royesh, and the entire staff for their excellent service. Everyone is very polite, professional, and always ready to help with a smile.

The food quality is amazing, the restaurant is clean and well-organized, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys great Indian cuisine and top-class service. I will definitely visit again

Extensive delicious menu. Food was delicious and service was very good. Will go again there

The only thing that need to improve is to be upfront with customers about 4% credit card surcharge that I think is too much. People can pay in cash if they knew about this charge beforehand.

Update 05/03/2025
The food quality is still there, but cost looks like gone up even more and quantity is definitely less compared to competitors in that area. Also if you are using the credit card, beware of an extra 4% charges, which i don’t like.

I was supposed to change the star level after my dine in. Indeed your facility is a 5 * one.

Finally, we were able to dine in. The atmosphere is great. It is very clean and nice. Good seats, but the table could be slightly bigger. Felt it was a little it cramped, but it is definitely better than other restaurants. Food quantity of take and dine in are the same. Dilpesh conceded and provided on all extra items we asked. Servers are cordial. Veg biryani was awesome. As usual, all our mocktail drinks were very tasty. The restrooms were clean, too. For the dessert, the sizzling brownie was superb.

Please note that I only had a takeout. So, I can not comment on the atmosphere. But it looked to be nice and neat, and everyone was courteous. Once I do a dine in, I will update. Now, coming to the food, quality is definitely very nice. It may become our favorite new restaurant. In three decades, the first time I saw some restaurants serve my favorite sugar cane juice with ginger and lemon in North NJ. Fried rice was tasting good. Baby corn fry was very good. Chole batura was awesome, but they do not give a whole puri, but it is made into small triangles, but I wish the quantity was more. The regular mango Lassi was also very good. Quantity was decent, but it could be more. Veg hakka noodles was awesome. They also provided complimentary jamoons too.

Ordered To-Go. Was shocked/disappointed to see the quantity versus the pricing. They charged $21 for an ordered of butter chicken. It was delivered in a small 16 Oz container. Compared to other Indian restaurants around the area, Sankalp’s quantity doesn’t justify the price. We called to inform the manager, but he didn’t care much. We will not be ordering from them anymore.

The food was absolutely like I was in India visiting my in-laws!! We had several different items and all 6 of them were amazing and to our liking!!! I am also happy with the quality of the service here as well. The Masala chai also to my liking. The Masala Dosa was just crispy and not at all soggy. The Hakka Noodles were also very nice as well with a nice taste. The two desserts my husband and I tried together were very great as well. I am very excited to come back and try other dishes.

Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Food Quality

We had a very frustrating experience at Sankalp. It started with a wait of 10–20 minutes just to get a table, which was expected on a busy evening. However, things went downhill from there. No one came to take our order for another 15 minutes after we were seated.

We were travelling and informed the staff that we couldn’t afford to wait long. Despite our request to expedite the order for takeout, it still took over 30 more minutes, and we ended up waiting a total of 1 hour and 10 minutes just to receive the food.

To make things worse, the restaurant automatically added an 18% gratuity charge even though we didn’t dine in or receive any service at the table. Only after we reviewed the receipt and brought it up, they agreed to refund it. If we hadn’t noticed, we would’ve been overcharged by nearly $20.

Now the food:
• Rotis were unbelievably hard, it felt like a jaw workout just to chew them.
• Garlic Naans were slightly better but still dry and tough.
• Veg Manchurian was a complete disaster, soggy and had an odd, unpleasant taste.
• Chicken Tandoori appetizer was bland and flavorless, tasted like boiled chicken with food coloring.
• Chicken curries had zero spice or authentic flavor, just below average.

Overall, the entire experience was a waste of time and money. We left feeling disappointed and frustrated. Definitely not coming back, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for quality Indian food or decent service.

I’m not a regular reviewer but this time I must add. Visited this place after couple of years. Ordered palak paneer, diwani handi and soya chap.

Soya chap was worth throwing in garbage. Chef took this out of dabba and fried. Inside was uncooked and whole thing was prepared without knowing how soy chap tastes in other places.

Palak panner and veg handi we ordered medium spicy. Both were zero spiced and taste was below average.
Quantity is another issue here. Much less than other places.
Not sure how it has been rated 4.6.

Food was excellent. Appetizer we got was the aloo Tikki chatt. I got the palak paneer and my friend got the masala paneer with medium spice. Parking was easy, it was very bright and inviting atmosphere. Everything was well priced, service was quick and attentive. Would definitely come back.
