Sweet steak sandwich was good. Eat it fresh. Not so good later or the next day. Customer service was good. Be prepared to wait a minimum of 20 mins maybe close to 30 mins if they’re busy.

I was excited about visiting Taurus when I came across an advertisement on IG. From how it looked on IG, I just knew it was going to be a hit, but I was SO wrong. I ordered the hoagie and it was the driest sandwich I have ever eaten. The meat was not fresh lunch meat, it tasted as if it was packaged lunch meat. I also ordered the sweet fries. Let me tell you about these sweet fries. It’s crazy how you can put a name to an item just so you can increase the price. These “sweet fries” are only regular fries with mild sauce. And beware for $4 you are going to get the smallest serving of fries known to mankind. I know this restaurant will not be here for long.

So just to clarify, this place is apparently one of several new franchise locations. It is NOT the original owner. I had heard all about the steak sandwich and when I tried it, it was DELICIOUS. I can’t wait to go back. I did hear that the hoagie was a bit disappointing because everyone is expecting it to be drenched in oil like the original. For my first time trying the hoagie, it wasn’t bad but I understand the disappointment. Hopefully if they see these reviews they will modify or at least provide the option to add more oil, etc. I would like for people to give this place a chance, and see it for what it is. Give the steak sandwich a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Its definitely not like the Taurus out south. I found it funny my sandwich was dry as heck but my bottom bread was soaked with oil so bag it was so soggy it broke apart . It was a regular dry sandwich I could have made at home. Didn’t taste anything like a hoagie and to top it off they don’t even cut it in half for you when you order a large one. So dont try to share it on the go you going to be disappointed with oil everywhere. Would not be going back to this location they make Taurus’s look bad

Speaking directly to Black Chicago specifically. If you grew up, born and raised in this city, especially over east then you know how great this restaurant was. Sadly, at least for this location, it’s no where near the glory of the 80s and 90s. This restaurant sells a product connected by Black Chicago, located in a Black area, customer base is mainly Black and presents itself as a Black owned business. But when I went there, I saw NO BLACK AMERICANS WORKING THERE. I saw hispanics working in there. And messing up orders at that. I find that disrespectful to us. Especially when I drive a nice distance to support a supposedly Black owned business with my hard earned Black dollars. Don’t try to pretend you’re a Black Owned business just to get us to support you when you dont hire us to work at the business. And if it is truly Black owned then its even worse. Because hispanics certainly dont hire us to work in their businesses. And the here food just ain’t hitting like it used to back in the day. This place was a big let down. I don’t think will ever go here again or even recommend it to my west side folks who never had a SouthSide hoagie. Maybe I will try the one on the SouthSide to see if I have a better experience but I doubt I will shop with them again. I’ll just make the trip down to the 100s and go to Home of the Hoagie. Far better food.

Ordered a turkey sub and it must was pre made and they just took off the tomatoes and onions because I wanted them without because it didn’t have onions but it smell like onions and everything was very cold even the bread and the green sauce whatever it was soak though the bread because the bread was green never will i go there again
