Brilliant, outside the centre local restaurant serving high quality food and an extensive beer range. Reservations a must, even at lunch time because the place is not huge. But well worth it. Excellent gluten free options too

Personally, I think Gand is an excellent city, even though prices are a bit high.
But this restaurant, in terms of price and quality, is excellent. It was one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had.
The food is high quality, and the service is really, really good. I’ve been to Gand several times, and I can say that this restaurant is probably, for me, among the top 5 best I’ve seen in Gan.
It’s definitely worth enjoying the food.

One of the best meals I had in Belgium. We thought we were in the back of the restaurant but the back is the front. Server was great and just attentive enough. Lots of food of the day items and a large menu to choose from. My red curry was a great take on red curry which is my measuring stick for an Indian restaurant. This is not an Indian restaurant but it was beautiful and very good. I could have used a bit more spice. The beef stew was very flavorful and the fries and salad were great. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal!

What a great find, well I only had to follow the instructions from my hotel receptionist and it was only round two corners !
However well worth the short walk and minor exploration
Great local food, large choice of local beers, friendly, helpful and welcoming service.
Five stars all round – so glad I’ve been and I already want to go back …

It’s very important to make a booking in advance. They are very busy and it’s easy to see why. The food was really good. And the staff very friendly and helpful.
Wide selection of beers to choose from. We had a seabass special and a steak with blue cheese sauce. The seabass was really good but may not be on the menu if the future. The steak was slightly less tender than expected but was still really good.
For dessert we had a cheese board and a tiramisu. With a latte and hot chocolate. Which made a perfect end to the meal.
Not the cheapest place but well worth it.

LOVED it! I tried the special of the day. Liege meatballs. Beautiful to look at, smelled wonderful and tasted out of this world! Great fries! The drinks are very good. Everything we ordered was excellent.

The food was okay, but the service was disappointing.
As a group of six, we chose to share dishes. The owner told us he would lose money because of our table size, which made us uncomfortable.
We even ordered extra sides after seeing the portions, but the atmosphere had already been affected and we didn’t fully enjoy the meal.
A comment like this should never be directed at guests.

My husband and I recently visited ‘t Oud Clooster during our lovely city break in Ghent, and it proved to be a wonderful spot for dinner. The building itself is absolutely stunning, boasting historical charm and a beautiful atmosphere that made the experience feel quite special. The menu offered an ample selection of dishes, and we found the service to be highly attentive; the staff were friendly and prompt, ensuring our order arrived swiftly and that we were well looked after throughout the meal. The only minor niggle in what was otherwise a great evening was the proximity of the dining tables. They are placed rather close together, which meant we felt slightly lacking in privacy for our own conversation. That said, this small point certainly wouldn’t deter us from highly recommending this restaurant to anyone visiting the city. Make sure you book in advance, as it’s clearly a very popular spot in Ghent!

It’s a very good Belgian food to bring my friends who visiting from oversea. Been here a few times and always happy with the food and service. We were very happy with the duck breast yesterday! Beef stew was decent. The fried chicken was on the dried side tho.

This place was cool! The entrance is kind of hard to see, even with the big sign hanging up above the door (I walked past it twice!) but the search is worth it. The interior and back terrace are nicely decorated and the story of the place is explained on the menu. The staff were patient and answered all my questions, and the service was top notch. The food was reasonably priced, as were the drinks, and both were phenomenal. I was served some delicious buttery and slightly spicy popcorn while waiting for my main dish. The proportions were generous. Highly recommend!
