We have been here for lunches or brunches over the past few years. Great convenient location and a large dining floor with friendly service. The food is consistently good for diner food. This is not fine dining, but they know their lane. You will get a sufficient amount of food for the price and for me, their biscuits and gravy are very good.

Excellent place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. We stopped for brunch on our way to Tahoe. Very quaint interior that makes you feel warm and at home. We had to wait a shortish bit to get seated. The food was good, plentiful in measure and tasty. I only wish we took home one of their pies! Very good place to stop and relax, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re pressed for time.

While on our way to the Sacramento airport, we stopped into the Buttercup Pantry for breakfast. It is a very charming restaurant with its vintage decor. Our server Krystal, provided exceptional service and she was so friendly. We started off with the giant cinnamon roll, that was so good. I had the Road to Tahoe Breakfast Sandwich. It is an egg sandwich on sourdough bread with bacon, cheese and avocado. I loved this meal. If I didn’t live on the East Coast, I would eat at the Buttercup Pantry every week.

Buttercup Pantry restaurant serves up country style comfort food in Placerville, CA. It’s located right on Main Street. The interior feels like walking into someone’s home that’s crowded and filled with knicks knacks and antiques. The staff is welcoming and attentive. Plus the menu is pretty extensive, so many choices… pretty much classic American diner food. Plus they have home made pies, strudel, and cinnamon rolls.
They have four kinds of strudel and 11 types of pies. To name a few pie flavors … apple, blackberry, pecan, lemon meringue, banana cream. Yum.
On my last visit as I was perusing the menu, the ribeye chicken fried steak caught my attention. I’ve never had a ribeye version, so I ordered that. The ribeye cube steak was pounded to the thinnest, barely there thickness. It was a tad overcooked rendering the bread crust a bit dry. Even the gravy couldn’t soften it up. Hubs ordered the bacon wrapped fried hotdog and cup of minestrone soup. I sampled off his plate. Both were ok. The fried batter around the hotdog was crunchy hard and dry. It would have tasted better without the batter. The soup was lukewarm. In the past, I recall the overal quality and food tasting much better. I’m apt to come back and ordering other items.

alfredo pasta was impossibly bland. even a good amount of salt & pepper didn’t help. it tasted like nothing, just plain milk… boyfriend seemed to like his food though. waitress was very nice

It’s a fun local place with lots to look at, especially the tea pots. The menu has good choices and breakfast served all day.
Waitresses were very friendly and attentive. Our food was good. Coleslaw and potato salad made in house. Baker from the restaurant does all the desserts.

The food can be hit or miss but it’s always a pleasure to be there. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy. The servers are always amazing. My chicken fried steak was delicious!

Had dinner ️ here before 2025 with a family of 4 from the Philippines they came to visit me. We took pic in front of ur and the raved about the food, how beautiful ❤️ ur restaurant was, as ❤️ WELL the server? Can’t remember her name? So thank u again.
