Saffron Mahal Indian Cuisine came up while browsing for some of the better Indian restaurants in the GTA, and booking a table here turned out to be a solid decision. Despite the crowd and a packed waiting area, we were seated right on time at 8 PM.

The interior stands out — Mughal-inspired décor with portraits, paintings, and traditional-style doors adds a classy touch and sets the mood well.

We ordered Chicken 65, Malai Chicken Momos, Chicken Hakka Noodles, Chicken Changezi, Butter and Garlic Naans, a Milkshake, and Chaas. The naans and the Changezi were the highlights — easily among the best naans I’ve had, and the gravy was rich and well-balanced. The rest of the dishes were good, but didn’t quite reach the same level. One odd detail was that almost every dish came with cabbage used as garnish or topping, which felt unnecessary and a bit out of place.

Service deserves credit. The restaurant was full, yet the staff managed the crowd efficiently. Food came out in a scattered order rather than course-wise, but given how busy it was, that’s understandable.

Overall, a very good spot for core Indian gravies and breads, especially if you appreciate well-made naans and classic North Indian flavors.

We visited this restaurant for the first time with our family while casually looking for a place to eat in Scarborough. It popped up with great Google ratings, and since it was New Year’s Day and a working day, we assumed it wouldn’t be too busy. Turns out we were wrong—we had to wait about 30 minutes. That said, the small and cozy waiting area made the wait comfortable, and since we were dining with a kid, the staff kindly offered us a corner table, which we really appreciated.

For appetizers, we ordered the Paneer Triple Platter. Unfortunately, the first batch was served cold and felt undercooked. However, once we mentioned it, the staff immediately replaced it with a fresh batch, and it was excellent. All three marinates were flavourful, and even the onions and salad were well-marinated and delicious. The only downside was that the paneer cubes were quite large, so the flavours didn’t fully seep inside, making it feel a bit heavy at times.

For the main course, we tried their highly reviewed Rara Paneer, which did not disappoint in terms of flavour. The Mushroom Masala truly stood out and ended up being my favourite dish of the meal. We paired the curries with butter and garlic naan, and everything was served in generous portions. While the pricing is slightly on the higher side, the quality and quantity completely justify it.

The ambience is royal with strong Indian vibes, making it a great choice for special occasions or family dinners. Although the service felt a little slow at times, the staff was always attentive, warm, and accommodating, ensuring our requests were handled well and that our overall dining experience remained positive.

On our next visit, we’re definitely looking forward to trying their momos and Manchurian, as we heard many good things about them. Overall, a place we’d happily return to.

We visited Saffron Mahal on Saturday night and had a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious, with great quality and authentic flavors. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable for the quantity and taste. The ambience was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect place for a relaxed dinner. On top of that, the service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and prompt. My wife and I truly enjoyed our evening here and would definitely recommend Saffron Mahal to anyone looking for great food and a pleasant dining experience.

Saffron Mahal offers a truly delightful dining experience that combines authentic flavors with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant features an impressive selection of vegetarian dishes, making it an excellent choice for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

We tried the vegetarian vindaloo and the butter chicken, and both were cooked to perfection. Each dish was flavorful, aromatic, and beautifully presented, highlighting the restaurant’s attention to detail and quality.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere at Saffron Mahal is beautiful, creating a relaxed and enjoyable setting for any occasion. The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, adding a genuine touch of hospitality that enhances the overall experience.

Overall, Saffron Mahal delivers on every front with great food, wonderful service, and a lovely ambiance. It is highly recommended for anyone craving authentic and delicious Indian cuisine.

Loved the ambience. Some lovely instrumental Bollywood music and of course amazing food. They also have a corner decorated with colourful props where you can take pictures. The servers had a warm smile and made sure everything is perfect. However, it was difficult to get their attention as it was a busy evening with all tables full. But I would certainly recommend this place and would like to go again.
