Reviews
If you’re anywhere near Great Falls, do yourself a favor and pull up to Mookie’s BBQ. This place is straight-up peace on a plate.
I had the turkey platter with cornbread, collard greens, and mac & cheese—and wow. The turkey was tender and flavorful, the cornbread hit that warm, homemade note, and the collards were cooked right. The mac & cheese? Baked beautifully with perfect texture. I’d love it just a touch sharper, but honestly, it’s still elite-tier comfort food.
Now let’s talk soup.
The vegetable soup with beef brisket was straight fire —rich, hearty, and full of soul. And on special days, if you’re lucky, they’ve got potato soup with bacon bits… absolutely dangerous. Creamy, smoky, comforting. Not always available, so check in first—they rotate specials like vinyl records. Respect.
The vibe?
Ambient. Chill. No rush. No noise. Just good energy and good people.
The service?
Solid. Friendly. You feel welcomed, not rushed.
This is the kind of place where food feels like a memory—like Sunday afternoon, like home, like “yeah… life’s alright.”
Old-school heart. Modern quality. No gimmicks. Just real BBQ and real comfort. It’s a little tight as far as space and restroom but besides that…
The bartenders Joe and Greg are really attentive and down to earth and stay consistent I’ll be back. Guaranteed
The service was excellent, and the staff was friendly and attentive, which made for a pleasant experience. I’d give them a solid 4 stars. The restaurant itself has a decent, casual vibe, but the atmosphere felt a bit average, earning it a 3-star rating from me.
For the food, I ordered the buffalo wings. They were grilled and had a good, smoky flavor, but they were a little on the dry side. I found that the side sauces were what really made them enjoyable. I also tried the potato salad, which was just okay—nothing particularly memorable. My friend wasn’t very impressed with their order, either, noting that the pulled chicken sandwich and baked beans were not very tasty or well-seasoned.
Overall, it’s a place with great service and potential, but the food didn’t quite deliver. It’s worth a try if you’re in the area, but I’d suggest being strategic with your order.
The Mac n cheese was okay. Again dry as hell. Flavorless/no seasoning. But hey it got the job done.
Don’t even bother with the cornbread.
You’re better off baking ribs in your oven. Or go to mission bbq. Something other than going to this place. This is a shame.
We started with the nachos and wings, both served in perfect portions and bursting with flavor. The brisket on the nachos was a standout—tender, smoky, and loaded with that rich BBQ goodness. The burnt ends were absolutely delectable: moist, flavorful, with a beautiful smoke ring and bark, and surprisingly not overly fatty while still juicy. The ribs were cooked to perfection—soft enough to pull apart but still held together nicely in your hand.
The sides were just as impressive. The mac and cheese was creamy and comforting, and the collard greens were packed with flavor.
Highly recommend Mookie’s if you’re in the area and craving some top-tier BBQ. You won’t be disappointed!
They had killer bbq sauce options, the collard greens were stellar, and the Mac n cheese was darn good! Definitely a winning meal, and we will be back!
We were seated and served within 10 minutes of arrival on a Saturday around noon. Our waitress was very nice and answered a lot of our questions and needs with a smile.
We ordered a pitmaster sampler platter with mac and cheese and potato salad as sides. We also got additional corn bread and brisket added to our meal. The amount of meat was more than enough for two hungry people and all the sides were so flavorful. All of the meats were seasoned well and so flavorful tho also bit dry probably due to the smokiness (especially the ribs) so the sauces are very welcome (I liked the original sauce a lot).
Overall, I really loved the flavors of the meats and the sauces so I will be back again for the brisket and burnt ends and maybe even with catering in the future!
