TLDR: Calling all palates! If you enjoy trying new wines and are excited by unique and delicious food pairings, you absolutely must check this place out!

If I told you the one word I would use to describe the place I go for wine and caviar was ‘approachable’, you’d probably roll your eyes. But I never lie. In the month since my husband and I first tried this place, we’ve been back 3 times. It’s a small unassuming store front off central. You walk in straight up to the bar and are greeted by the kind, low-key staff who let you know where to look for the wines by the glass and food specials. The wine list here is nothing short of spectacular. Jennifer Jane (co-owner and the curator of said wine list) is the mad hatter and her tea party is just what the doctor ordered. Perusing her wine list is like reading the cover story of a Condé Nast magazine. Exotic locales and grapes, small makers and unique preparations, always something new for my palate to explore, and of course a solid base of classics for when you just need a glass of your favorite. This wine list offers such unexpected nuance and fun, wholly unique, a perfect glass for literally any occasion. There is no other restaurant/bar in NM with this variety of wines. JJ’s picks are always spot on, and I’ve never had a glass here I didn’t love. If you claim to love wine, this spot is a hard must.

Don’t be blinded by the sparkle of an incredible wine list though. Chef Houla and his self proclaimed “Chaos cuisine” is the perfect partner to the liberated libations on offer. The menu is equal parts comfort and culinaria. My regular order includes French fries, Caviar, tinned fish and whatever special catches my eye. The food is incredibly well balanced with each dish showcasing Chef Houla’s skill for designing bites that hit every note on the palate. He does the comfort dishes perfectly, treating them with love and respect, because he appreciates that sometimes you just need a stellar glass of wine and a big bowl of fries to put the world right. However his creativity and skill shine with his specials. You are missing out if you skip ordering a dish off the specials menu. Shishitos, mushrooms, salads, eggs; literally any dish Chef Houla puts out, I will gladly and enthusiastically put down, and you should too.

Without any further ado, My single favorite thing about Wolf and Swallow is how approachable they make food and drinks typically associated with luxury dining. I am a sucker for a “lil’ treat”. However my lil’ treats are typically an afternoon matcha or sneaky croissant. Wolf and Swallow opened my eyes to new and improved ways to treat myself. Caviar. I had never tried it, and didn’t have a huge desire to, but I also love trying new things. Thanks to a variety of choices and an easy, low risk, entry option of Cajun Caviar, I decided to give it a try. My Caviar arrived with several accoutrements and with glee I asked, “so how do I eat this?!” With zero judgment Jennifer Jane gave me a quick how-to, and I tucked in. Cajun caviar and a Miller High Life. Life changing. So incredibly delicious. My new favorite lil’ treat. Now a Caviar lover, the next visit I sampled the Caviar flight. What a fun and exciting experience to be able to try three different kinds of caviar, back-to-back! Suddenly the descriptions of ‘buttery’, ‘earthy’, ‘briney’ were so clear. Each Caviar had subtle but clear differences between each variety. Who am I now? I have a favorite caviar?! Yes, yes I do. Because of one, cozy, well decorated, curated, passion project restaurant and wine bar. Hospitality at its best. 5 stars.

Oh my goodness what a delight! This was a treat for me tonight and this is the place to treat yourself. From the fun decor to the layout, the over all vibe is just what this girl needed.

The wine list is a “live” list that will rotate and it is an adventure. From South Africa, Argentina and Georgian (Europe) to local New Mexican. Each wine has a story, just ask and they will let you know.

And the food!! Where else in town can you treat yourself to a caviar flight with THE best house-made potato chips. Follow that up with deviled eggs that are next level. Then enjoy a seasonal offering and call yourself good.

Yup… this was the treat of the week.
Please get yourself there.

Music was good volume so i was able to hold a conversation easily
Bar sitting was comfortable and i didn’t feel like i was in anyones way.
Parking… there is street parking, parking across from Farina and spaces in the neighborhood.

Food arrived at the perfect pace and i was able to order directly from the bar. This is small plate style perfect chaos. Order all at once, but honestly do one or two dishes at a time and enjoy.

Had the pleasure of checking Wolf & Swallow out yesterday for the first time and it was amazing! Super delicious food and drinks as well as warm and friendly service. Also had a nice chat with the chef/owner and he is lovely. The vibes were immaculate, and I absolutely loved the design/decor of the restaurant itself and the bathroom. Cute and cozy for sure. Can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful experience! Its a beautiful little spot, easy going vibes, perfect for date night. We ordered the french fries, deviled eggs, tinned oysters and everything was exceptional. I was not familiar with most wines on the list but it didn’t matter, Jennifer made amazing recommendations! The pricing was fair especially for the quality. Wine was around $14-$19 a glass but you can also purchase a bottle to share. We will certainly be back!

My partner and I live downtown and have been fans of chef/followed the pop ups around the city for many years. We were so excited for these guys to finally open a brick and mortar so close by. Well worth the wait! Favorite spot in Edo.

Ignore all the whiners. Burqueños always cry the loudest when a place is doing well. Go support them! Good people, better vibes, best food.

This is the most underrated unnoticed restaurant in all of Albuquerque! The ambiance…as soon as you enter…is warm and inviting! Our hosts..the same! The food is imho, worthy of a Michelin Star. Yes, it’s that good! Everything is brilliantly prepared. The presentation is impeccable. The way he blends flavors and textures is a work of Art. I can’t say enough about this local gem. Experience it for yourselves. You won’t regret it.

I almost didn’t want to write a review because I feel like Wolf and Swallow is a perfect little secret that I don’t want to share. We’ve been looking for a Friday-night place for a while and didn’t want it to be a chain. Wolf and Swallow DELIVERS. From the super cool vibe, the quirky but delicious menu, the warmth of the wait staff, and the proprietors are visible, friendly and check in. We will be back.

A reputational part of their business model is charcuterie boards. The Half and Half board was $75 and included two small wedges of soft cheese and a fair amount of another sliced yellow cheese that was very yummy. It had maybe four pieces each of two different cured meats. Nearly the entire rest of the board was pickled fruits and vegetables. No jellies, jams or syrups. A small pile of nuts. And only three pieces of crostini. I’d like to tell you what the meats and cheeses were- but our board was set down with no explanation of anything on it.
The appetizer was fun and well priced. The wine list and N/A options were amazing.
I believe it’s also important to share there is a 3.00% surcharge on any credit card use.
For $100 you can get a bottle of bubbles and a large order of frites which could be fun for a patio day. They have a cheaper option for this as well (~$60). You can even get a charcuterie board for your pup. Bowl of ice water included.

I’ve been to Wolf n Swallow many times since they opened and will be back there often again. The atmosphere is so calm and peaceful, the owners are both magical and so kind. The wine collection is really good. I know it because I’m not a wine person at all and often go here with a friend or date and ask them to pick but it’s always just so good. But more importantly the Charcuterie is magic. It’s very unique experience. There is no “off the shelf” ingredients like carrots and cauliflower and typical dips like hummus. Every vegetable is perfectly pickled with different flavors in the house, often so hard to even guess what vegetable it exactly is but all taste so good and so well curated together with the meat and cheese. And the smaller option is very likely enough for 2 people.

I really think giving this place a try is a must and you might just find yourself a regular there.
