Terri-Lynn’s is a Little Rock fixture. For years when it was at its former location on Cantrell Road, it was one of my family’s go-to places for barbecue sandwiches — lovingly smoked pork chopped fine and served with barbecue sauce and cole slaw on buns. We still stop there, at its new location on Rodney Parham, for barbecue (see the photo below). As you can see, the chopped pork sandwiches are over-stuffed with meat, and with the barbecue sauce and cole slaw added, they’re best eaten with a fork, since they quickly fall apart when you try to eat them as hand-held sandwiches.

Their other sandwiches are also first-rate. Their foot-long hot dogs with everything on them are an understandable draw. Pictured below is The Coach, smoked turkey and Swiss cheese with cole slaw and tomato on caraway rye bread. They smoke their meats on site, pork, turkey, brisket.

I can’t tell you about the brisket, because I’m an old-school Arkansan for whom barbecue is pork and not beef, and I shy away from (and rather resent) the nouveau barbecue places springing up all over the place that push Texas barbecue (i.e., brisket) as if it’s the only show in town, and that also offer hyper-sweet sauces that turn a barbecue sandwich into a dessert.

Decor is down-home Arkansas barbecue shack. The seating area is not extensive, but there’s good seating outside when the weather conduces to al fresco “dining.” They’re strictly a lunch place open a few hours before noon and then into the afternoon.

A plus of eating at Terri-Lynn’s: for those of us who can’t do without the house wine of the South, they brew a mean iced tea that’s not too sweet, and offer slices of lemon to go with it — and they have one of those old-fashioned crushed ice machines that fills your glass with finely crushed ice.

Went for the tamales. They were dry, hard, and too bland. I tried to eat them but they were so bad, I just threw them away and left. People were nice but the floors were absolutely disgusting which made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the restaurant.

Decided to stop by today on my lunch break for the first time and I’m glad I did. The chopped pork sandwich was phenomenal, as well as the baked beans. Very unique smoky flavor. Had to run back because they forgot my beans, but Tim made everything right and even threw in a piece of Pecan pie for the trouble. Great restaurant and great staff, will be coming back!

Don’t know if they have good bbq but the ham they served was delicious. If it was supposed to be smoked I couldn’t taste it. All the sides were also good. Beans, macaroni salad and cole slaw were fresh and tasted like it was just made. Employees were nice and enjoyed talking to them. Would go back if I wanted to eat at a deli. Bbq maybe not.

Very disappointed in my first and last Trip to Terri-Lynns. To go order was pretty much crap. Bad BBQ , Bad Ruben. Left out the Sauerkraut to boot.

Stopped by today for the first time. We got a French dip and Reuben with macaroni salad. The Reuben very well may be my new favorite Reuben in town. We also shared the bbq nachos and an amazing brownie. The staff was so friendly and we cannot wait to go back!!

Terri-Lynn’s smokes some of the best BBQ in the state. The owner and staff make us feel right at home every time we walk in. It’s an absolute gem and one of our favorite places in Little Rock.
