Social Profile:

Hi House opened in 2018 as Irvine’s first authentic Northeastern Chinese BBQ restaurant, dedicated to serving honest, traditional flavors. Our signature lamb and beef skewers are made with fresh, high-quality meats and never marinated, staying true to classic da chuan barbecue and highlighting the natural taste of the meat. We also proudly serve our Champion Beef Noodle Soup, a family recipe from Taiwan made with premium beef shank, with free noodle and soup refills—always. At Hi House, we respect tradition while thoughtfully evolving, never compromising the flavors that define us.

I enjoyed the food here. I like that it stays open late. The portions here are a good size. Every thing tasted good. Good for groups or solo dining. Everything is shareable. Price is also fair for what you get. I will come back and try diffrent things nextime.

Located in the same strip mall as Left Coast Brewing near the corner of Irvine Center Drive and Sand Canyon Avenue, Hi House specializes in hot pot, barbecue, and Chinese cuisine. Their menu offers so much variety that it’s impossible to sample everything in just one visit, so you’ll have to come back again for another visit!

Mango Tea was my drink of choice and I was happy about the taste and sweetness but also the serving size. Popcorn Chicken and Spicy Szechwan Wonton were great starters and they were followed by Lamb and Beef Skewers. Surprisingly the lamb was more tender than the beef! We also shared the hot pot and it hit the spot like it usually does. As mentioned before, their menu is expansive so we’ll def be back to try something new and different!

We came in on a Saturday and the place was empty; we ordered the mixed dry pot, but it wasn’t listed on their iPad menu what was in it. Turns out it’s a mix of tripe and aorta only with veggies. A little bit disappointed that “a mix” turns out to be just a mix of 2 things, but no complaints about the taste, the dry pot sauce is delicious and not too spicy. The size is huge for 2 people, so we have some leftover perfect for 1 more serving.

We also got some skewers: lamb and chicken gizzards. The spices were a bit bland as they put very little initially, so we asked for more spice to be added and they kindly added more and reheated it for us.

Overall, I quite like it and the price point is good too for the portion you get. I just wish they had more options for the dry pot toppings, maybe some with lamb or beef, cause I love the seasoning they use, but not a big fan of the limited toppings option.

Super inexpensive shabu shabu. Shared a bowl for 23 and it was great. The coconut curry didn’t taste very coconutty but it was very good. Loved making the soup in front of us!

Hot pots are very basic, but super yummy. They have a large variety of ingredients to order. I enjoyed the lamb as a meat ingredient. It’s fun to cook ingredients in small portions chosing your next bite. Great food to eat while having long dinner conversations. I enjoyed this experience.

It’s my first time at this place, and the atmosphere is terrible. When I walked in, they saw me but rudely turned away. It made me feel really uncomfortable. I ordered takeout, and when I asked the waitress in glasses a question, her facial expression looked like she was about to throw up. I will never come back here again — this was just awful.

We just moved to Irvine, CA from Seattle and would like to try some Chinese food in Irvine.

My wife told me that Hi House promotes the product – Champion Beef Noodle Soup (紅燒冠軍牛肉麵). Free Refill for Noodle and Soup. Since my kids love noodles, I would say it is a good deal.

We went there twice.

First time: We ordered the Champion Beef Noodle Soup ( 1 bowl) for my 2 kids, but the soup was mild spicy. But it was fine for them. They enjoyed eating noodles especially free refill.

My wife ordered Tomato Beef Noodle Soup (紅燒番茄牛肉麵) and she really loved it.

Second time: My kids still wanted to have Champion Beef Noodle Soup. This time, the soup a little bit spicy compared to the dining experience for the first time. They did not like it.

Suggestion:
1. Since free refill is the good marketing strategy, why not create a kid’s menu where they can enjoy eating, but the soup can be either non spicy or mild spicy?

2. Please make non spicy soup for kids if they love it.

Will go back definitely.

The price of the food was high although it tasted mediocre. Waiters weren’t really accommodating and were doing their own thing. The ordering system was sort of complicated and the electric stove was problematic, each time we had to adjust the flame a worker had to come and reach under the table to change it.

Everything is good and delicious; we ordered the lamb skewers, beef skewers, beef tongue skewers, chicken gizzards skewers, chicken cartilage skewers, and spicy dried pot with pork intestines. However, the beef tongue is overcooked and a bit dried. Service is fast.
