Reviews
The food is decent, though not particularly standout. One concern I’ve noticed, however, is an ongoing odor in the air that’s difficult to pinpoint, something similar to mold or dampness, which takes away from the overall atmosphere.
Another issue I’ve personally experienced, and have also seen mentioned in other reviews, is that service can sometimes shift heavily toward regular patrons when they arrive. During those times, guests seated elsewhere may feel overlooked for stretches of time.
Outside of those concerns, this could easily be a four- or five-star establishment. Because these issues seem to be ongoing, I’m leaving a three-star review for now, with the hope that improvements are made moving forward.
Great atmosphere, touch tunes, decent beer selection. Fun spot.
– Goliath Burger $16 (with fries): TWO THIRD POUND PATTIES! TONS OF CHEESE! Regular bun.
That is the sum of it, but here are some details.
The burger patties are third pound patties and about average. They were cooked at about medium-well by default. It says never frozen, but it didn’t seem to ultimately affect the taste a lot in their case. Not bad, but not unique.
The cheese was coated on this burger! You can barely see the beef patties. The cheese, though there were loads of it, was actually mediocre and was a bit of a bland texture and taste.
I added ketchup and mayo to it and it helped liven it up a bit. I did enjoy it.
– Fries: AMAZING! Get them! They were good and hot all the way to the end, even if they were thinner. They were crispy, but soft inside. The batter and seasoning were slightly sweeter and full of savory goodness.
– Service: You seat yourself here, but there is table service. I was a bit confused walking in because it was not communicated, but I quickly figured it out. My waitress was quick and helpful. The burger didn’t take too long. Paying was fairly painlessly quick.
– Atmosphere: Standard bar feel. The music played was a variety of 90’s pop and rap and they play it louder with thumping bass (not my cup of tea).
– Conclusion: The prices were good and the quality was ok. I had a few people recommend Birch Lodge and I may come back for their Lodge Burger because that has American cheese and that’ll probably register with me and fit into my general baseline of how I gauge burgers.
