I never had so much DISAPPOINTMENT with any food. I ordered a chicken dum biryani but a chicken pulav would have been better than this, who puts green peas in biryani! The whole concept of biryani was nowhere near what they served.
NO WONDER they don’t have a picture of chicken dum biryani, neither on uber eats.
I would definitely not order from here again and would never recommend it to someone.

I love Taste of Himalayas. It’s the closest Indian restaurant to where I live (not in St. Charles), but it’s worth the drive. Every time I’ve ordered food (usually to go), it’s perfectly hot and spicy. I tend to order the makhani, and order it at the “hot” level with a side of naan, which has a great char but it’s also soft in the middle.

The staff is super friendly, and the restaurant itself is kept clean. Obviously I love the food, which is why I keep going back. A++++

Taste of Himalayas might not win any awards for interior design, but what it lacks in aesthetics, it more than makes up for in flavor. This hidden gem delivers some of the best food I’ve had in a long time—especially for vegan diners.
The vegan options are plentiful and thoughtfully prepared. The vegetable samosas were absolutely killer—crispy, rich, and decadent enough to make you forget they’re plant-based. The Himalayas vegetable korma was another standout: creamy, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. I ordered it mild and immediately wished I’d gone spicier—the spice blend was so well done, it deserved a bolder kick.
But the real showstopper was the baigan bharta. I got it spicy, though it wasn’t quite as hot as expected—but it was still hands down one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. Smoky, savory, perfectly seasoned—every bite was a joy. I’ll definitely go up a spice level next time.
Portion sizes strike a good balance: generous without being overwhelming. I didn’t leave with leftovers, but I also didn’t leave hungry. The tandoori roti was a delicious vegan-friendly bread option (since the naan is vegetarian only), and it paired beautifully with everything on the table.
Service was friendly, attentive, and quick—another plus that made the experience all the better.
If you’re looking for incredible Himalayan flavors, especially as a vegan, don’t let the modest setting fool you. Taste of Himalayas is all about bold, satisfying, unforgettable food.

First, I wanted to confirm that there is a lunch buffet at this location (January 2026). Our family went for the buffet on a Sunday, and there were nearly a dozen entrees to choose from. There was also naan bread at the table and rice pudding for dessert. The food was very tasty, and I appreciated being able to sample several dishes to see what I like. The setting was definitely low-key and quiet, so good for a relaxing lunch or conversation with your party. We’d go again, and also now know a few dishes we could order for take-out.

I always strive for fresh food, and I can tell the momos, chana masala, and puri I ordered were all made fresh.
The taste was very good. Ordered “spicy,” but it’s mild for me.
Service is 5 stars. Very pleasant waiter.

Wow, so much flavor in these very authentic Nepalese and Indian dishes!
Chicken Chhoela and Jhane Ko Dal (rich delicious lentils) made an awesome meal and r enjoyed some Kheer (rice pudding) for dessert. When I fly from AZ to visit my family in Geneva, I make sure to stop in for a truly unique meal. YUM!!

Food was excellent! As someone who has never had Indian, it exceeded my expectations. I tried the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and the chicken momo. It was mouth watering, it was so good. I will definitely come back again.

Delicious samosas and traditional Nepalese shrimp. The flavors were well mingled and just the right amount of spice. I loved the rice pudding, always a favorite and the Himalayas mudslide topped off my night. Will def come back next time I’m in St. Charles!

Horrid experience. They gave the wrong order to our Grubhub driver. Assured us that the order will be refunded and asked us to reorder. We called them to let them know that we had placed the order and that our driver was 7 minutes away. They told us that our driver had already arrived and they had given our order to them. I said I think you might have given our order to the wrong person, they said we wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. Guess what, they did. We finally got our order 2.5 hrs later with some stuff missing and the food was not good. 0 stars.
