We were traveling through and stopped at Big Brutus. This was our second trip to Big Brutus, we decided to stop somewhere local to eat. The place looked busy when we pulled in, but only had a handful of customers. We figured burgers would be fast, but were incorrect at least this day. We all ordered burgers, the fries and onion rings had good portions, the mushrooms were sparse. Took us an hour to get food after ordering. About 30 minutes after ordering the waitress shared she was sorry for the delay they were also prepping for a catering event. We ended up mixing and matching sides at our table to ensure everyone had enough to eat.

I walked in 20 minutes after being given a 15 minute wait time to practically an empty restaurant, had to wait an additional 10 minutes for my call in order. Then for some reason I get told my side of onion rings is $8 and has been for years! Despite the fact I’ve lived here for more than a year and they have always been $4, last month when I got an order of them they were $4, they have never not been $4. Supposedly, they made a Facebook announcement about this at some point in time I have no clue of, among the many a week that they post, and I was supposed to scroll through their Facebook to find this one announcement instead of just reading the menu that was updated 2 months ago and lists them as $4. My mistake.
Then after waiting the 30 minutes that was original supposed to be 15 I finally get my sandwiches, including the tomatoes that I asked to be taken off. My mistake again to assume that it would be a fairly easy ask to have tomatoes left off a sandwich that I’m paying almost $10 for when it’s pretty much the only order they are working on. You would assume in that 30 minutes they could have looked at the ticket that says “no tomatoes” in big red letters but I guess not.
After multiple times of something going wrong with my order here with weeks to months in-between each instance I’m just going to give up. I’m not going to keep paying $15+ per meal for something to always be wrong with it somehow.

Fist time in this family run cafe and market. Tried the fried pickle chips as an appetizer with ranch they were very good.
Had the bacon and blue cheese burger and hand cut French fries. Both were delicious. Then had a slice of warm pecan pie and cool whip. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.

One of the other reviewers called this a “hidden gem”, they weren’t kidding. The owners came to our table to chat and the staff was friendly and kind. The menu, though focused on meat and potatoes, was excellent and the atmosphere is really welcoming and neighborly. We loved it!

Nice place, large portions and farm raised scratch-made food. Our server was friendly and helpful. The breakfast sausage was amazing and the biscuits light and flaky.

Farm to table restaurants are the best. I had a hamburger with bacon and an egg on it and sweet potato fries. Can’t leave without getting some pecans and zucchini bread!

A home freezer friendly place. Just picked up a flat of strawberries yesterday and looking forward to the peaches again this year.
Small grocery for as the name says farm supplied foods. The summer time garden vegetables and year round Schenker meats are a healthy treat for the feeding routine.
Adjoining restaurant is better than most.
No sleepwalkers working here, everyone is always attentive and interested in the products and customers.

Restaurant was not busy. Order taken very quickly, not a long wait food. Food was good and reasonably priced. We’ll be back.
