I’m originally from Baltimore, MD & I visited the take out spot on 8/28/2025 for the first time after googling soul food restaurants in the Columbia, SC area. After calling the restaurant to place my order over the phone and not receiving an answer. I ended up just driving to the restaurant and placing an order inside. The young lady was the only person there and what appeared to possibly be only
one cook. Once I placed my order, I had to return about 20 minutes later to pick up the food I ordered. On the outside of the establishment it appeared to need a deep cleaning from bugs and other outside elements. I ordered the shrimp and grits, the seafood platter add fried shrimp, with sides as seafood Mac and cheese and yams. I also ordered the brisket baked potato. The shrimp and grits were delicious and even the grits were seasoned well. The brisket potato was delicious and the flounder and fried shrimp were pretty good. The seafood Mac & cheese didn’t have enough seafood to be called “seafood mac & cheese” in my opinion. The yams needed to be cooked longer to me because I prefer tender sweet potatoes. Overall, I’d definitely return to try other menu items.

This food was 100 out of 10 , I found them in TikTok. It didn’t disappoint. I ordered oxtails fries , my daughter ordered seafood spud . We also order fried fish , greens and THOSE EGG ROLLS !!!!!! I WILL DEFINITELY DRIVE 25 minutes again . They are priced very reasonable.

I ordered the country fried dish and an oxtail plate. I have not yet tried the oxtail. When I arrived home and opened the chicken plate, I noticed it appeared to be wet, suggesting it may not have been fully cooked. I attempted to eat what I could, but I felt it was not worth my time or money. The chicken skin was not crispy, and I was disappointed that the meal did not meet proper cooking standards. Due to these issues, I decided it was not worth returning the meal or wasting additional time and effort.

I purchased wings on 8/8 /25 and they were very good. So much so that I purchased them again on 8/16/25. However, the experience was not the same. The wings were not done. I messaged the business on FB Messenger after arriving home and attempting to eat them. I wanted to share the experience privately so they could make the correction. I was not asking for anything in return. I never received a response to the message. Fast forward to 8/19/25 at about 10 mins after they opened. I asked for a manager or the owner. I was told he was not there and was asked for my name and number. I left the information with the young lady and also advised her that I sent a message on FB Messenger. I never received a return call. I called again on 8/20/25 a little after 5 pm and was also told he was not there. Still no call or response to my message. Food should be checked to ensure it has reached the proper temperature, especially chicken. I support small businesses whenever I can but unfortunately this one will not make the cut.

I was visiting South Carolina for my nephew’s graduation and wanted some good soul food. My sister took us to Southern Crave and I must say the food was so good. This is the food from our 2nd day of eating there. The food was so good on Saturday that we all had lamb chops with a variety of sides mac & cheese, yams, collard greens, black eye peas. The lamb chops were seasoned to perfection and tender. The sides were so delicious, We had different sides as it was 3 of us. So we decided to go back on Sunday. I had the smoked oxtail with collard greens and Mac & cheese and my husband had the stir-fried salmon with rice and a side of seafood mac and cheese. I highly recommend this establishment if you are in the area.

Food is worth it. The Mac was cheeseee, the wings crispy, the collards had flavor, and the smoked Oxtail was smoking! I definitely enjoyed it. Wish the location was bigger but grab, go, and enjoy!

My first experience dining at Southern Crave was exceptional. The food was amazing, and the customer service was even better. While Black-owned establishments are sometimes unfairly given a bad reputation, this place is truly a hidden gem.
Today is both Veterans Day and my birthday, and the owner generously offered complimentary items for me and my family to try. The gesture was greatly appreciated and demonstrated genuine hospitality.
I will definitely be returning. Thank you, Southern Crave, for providing the best Southern hospitality my family and I have experienced since being stationed in South Carolina.

Southern Crave hands down is my Friday go to place! The food and staff are AMAZING! The food is definitely worth the wait. They should offer the choice of a small or large side. I feel like the portion you receive for $5 is overpriced for what normally would be considered a small side. ♀️ & yes I paid for 3 extra sides because ITS JUST THAT DARN GOOD!

This time I tried the salmon. I initially wanted the fried lemon pepper wings but they were sold out. The salmon was AMAZING and my two sides were Mac & Cheese and Yams. The Mac did not hit me like the it did the first time. When I open the box I was looking for that kinda burnt on the side granny style Mac and I got. Becky’s mother through craft in the oven looking Mac. However the taste wasn’t too far off but you can definitely tell it was rushed or Grandmother made it instead of Big Mama.

I’m glad I decided to sit in the long line of traffic to get to Southern Crave. I don’t live in Columbia (I’m visiting from Athens, GA) but this menu intrigued me. When I walked in the door, I was pleasantly greeted. I ordered the grilled salmon with collards & fried okra. The wait was only about 10-15 minutes but we’ll worth it. The salmon had a nice glaze and the salmon was exceptionally moist and spiced to perfection. The collards were also deliciously prepared and the okra was tender yet properly fried and no lingering grease to be found. The portions were more than sufficient. I would highly recommend this establishment, especially since they have an extensive selection of southern fare which I’m sure everything is as delicious as the salmon. Kudos to the chef. I am sad that there is nothing this good in Athens. But it’s only a 3 hour drive… ; ^ )
