Great place to have some delicious bbq. The environment and the atmosphere was great! I was able to get a nice sliced brisket sandwich. I received excellent friendly service and the portion was very generous. Thank you to the entire staff and any time I am in the area, I will definitely stop by.

I had amazing ribs here. The folks are very friendly and it’s a family run operation. The wood smoker is out back. I was very impressed with the ribs. The hot links were very addictive. The interior is about as simple and low key as it gets.

Nice little country barbecue. Good service and good barbecue. Good value for the money too. Plenty of parking but get there early as they will often sell out. Link sausage was good as well as brisket. Pinto beans were good too.

The flavor this place had was great. I usually get a baked potato with brisket at most places to determine how good of a bbq joint is. It did not disappoint. In my top 5 of all bbq joints I’ve been to in the south.

Excellent quality, food, lightning, fast service, and moderate prices. Didn’t care for the radio station playing because of commercials, but other than that, it was great. We will definitely be back!

The baked potato was delicious and mountain size. The ribs are a MUST ORDER! Seriously, order the ribs. Comfortable place all together. Good food, super nice people, nice atmosphere. We will be returning.

We decided to meet my parents in Palestine for lunch and I was tasked with choosing the restaurant. My mission was simple, find food that transports well, as we were going to check out Davey Dogwood Park for the first time and we wanted to have a picnic. I read the reviews and saw the pictures, and we are all big BBQ lovers, so I decided to give this place a try.
Upon arrival we informed the front counter staff that it was our first time, they were patient with us as we read through the menu and made our selections. There was fresh tea made to serve yourself, or canned sodas and bottled water to choose from in the fridge. We ordered two chopped brisket sandwiches with mac and cheese and potato salad. I was so glad that they asked if we wanted lean or fatty cuts. I prefer fatty and my husband likes lean, so we got one of each. My parents ordered sliced brisket and ribs with seasoned corn and potato salad, and another sliced brisket and sausage plate with pinto beans and potato salad. The staff whipped it up in the back and four folks came out to send us on our way, complete with extra BBQ sauce to go. Everyone we spoke to was so nice, and I thought it was neat that they all came out to wish us safe travels on our way.
Let me tell you, the meat was *DELICIOUS!!!* My husband and I were both impressed at the quality of the meat and the bread as well. You know how at some places you get dry bread and it just kinda ruins the sandwich, not here. The bread was soft and pillowy, and the lean and fatty cuts were everything we had been dreaming of. I enjoyed that there wasn’t huge chunks of meat in their chop, it was cut up just right. The smoke flavor really shines through in the fat on the brisket! Country P’s piled on the meat, I had meat pouring out of my sandwich into my to go container, enough for another half sandwich easily. My parents said their meats were all divine! The ribs were so tender and the sausage had a great flavor to it. I also genuinely appreictae the pickles that y’all use. They were thicker cut and full of flavor, a perfect pair to the sandwich and sauce. As much as I liked the sauce, honestly, you don’t even need it as the meat is so flavorful on its own.
There was absolutely nothing left over to take home after our picnic at the park. We tore it up, and even though we were full to the brim, we were dreaming of another trip back to Country P’s. I wish I had taken a picture of our food to show the sheer quantity of meat and the quality of what we had, but we were lost in the flavor and didn’t even think about it until afterward. (On another note, we do recommend taking it to go and getting some nature time in at Davey Dogwood Park. It was a really nice place to sit under the trees or under the pavilion and it’s just a five minute drive down the street from Country P’s. Your BBQ will make it, we tested it! 🙂 )
Country P’s, I see why you guys were voted the best for two years in a row! From out of towners who had never heard of you until the night before, y’all blew the four of us away. Thank you for putting out such a high quality product and for your great customer service. Not all BBQ places are created equally, and I will say as someone that has tried BBQ in 22 states as I travel for work, Country P’s meat is definitely a cut above the rest. We will absolutely be back for another round of that delicious smoke!

Bbq here is just above average. That being said I would go back if in the area. Family owned and ran trying hard to make it work. Something to be said for that. Meats were smoked well and were not to dry. Sides were average. If your looking for good bbq this is not bad.

I love small local food places, especially when it’s bbq. We took a trip to Palestine to do a little ghost hunting and found this cute place. Country P’s was cozy and inviting. The service was fast and friendly. My son enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich. I ordered brisket. It didn’t have as much bark as I’d like but it was moist and flavorful. The sides were good too. I had the coleslaw and potato salad.
