I have to say this is hands down one of my most favorite places to eat. It may just be me but I love a simple classic burger shop where you know everything was made with love. I enjoy giving my money to a local business that prides their self on good food like this!! They’ll always have my business!!

This is a stand alone little lunch counter where local folks might walk in, and one of the servers would say, “The usual?” And the customer would say, “Yeah!” I had lunch there today. I paid $5 plus change for a corn dog, onion rings and a large coke, tax included. Workers here are friendly and efficient. Food is made to order, and better than in most chain burger joints. The place is old but clean, and decorated with many decades-old pharmacy and soda fountain items. I’ve had a very pleasant experience.

Everyone has a ‘best burger ever’ place and this place is gonna make it at least to the top 5 for me, if not higher. It’s not fancy. It’s simple, no frills, just good food and good people. Amazing service, polite hosts, amazing food. 100% recommend getting a milkshake too!

Been eating here since my grand parents lived across the street in the 90s. My father who is now 62, ate here as a child. I see some reviews talking about the owners not being friendly. Give me a break, do you see how busy they are cooking? They’re always busy(because they’re the best). They make the best burger and chili slaw dog I’ve ever had. 4 generations of Roberts have eaten here. It’s literally all 4 generations FAVORITE hole in the wall of all time. If I get to heaven and the good lord asks me to name ONE PLACE to eat for the rest of eternity, I and my family would all answer the same. Smiths Soda Shop!

Bring cash and a good appetite. The burgers are excellent. The fries and onion rings always hot and crispy. My go to lunch spot. Makes sense on why they’ve been in business so long.

In 2025, this family owned and operated restaurant has been in business for over 78 years. The working cash register looks like it belongs in a museum! Food is freshly cooked to order. Wait staff is very friendly. Has seating for about 25 people, but people are in and out pretty quickly. One thing to know is that they accepted cash only.

Love love love! Simple concession type food — hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, onion rings, etc. Super cheap too. My favorite thing about it was how cute it was. It is just a little tiny old fashioned soda shop. Nostalgia abounds! The kids loved the homemade milkshakes. The only con I could find was that they are cash only and it didn’t say that anywhere before we walked in. Luckily, the guy at the bar beside us forewarned us before we ordered. But when your whole meal is only $6, it doesn’t make any sense for them to pay fees to take credit cards.

This review will be short because well, there just isn’t much to say. SMITH’S SODA SHOP in Cleveland GA had been on my radar to try for a few years now and I finally had the chance to take a ride and check them out. This is your classic diner type of experience with stand alone chairs facing the cooks over the counter and a few booths, very small inside. They are huge COCA-COLA fans and have a bunch of memorabilia on their walls, pretty cool. Their double cheeseburger was small in size but juicy, but lacked anything that would make it special. Their fries are OK and have a steak cut to them which means they have to be well cooked or they’ll be soggy and my preference is crispy and well done, which this was not. The young lady that took my order was either having a bad day or just didn’t like bikers because friendly customer service was just not there. She took my order, said nothing then brought my meal and said nothing… that was the extent of her customer service. There was an older gentlemen and lady in there as well helping other guests and they seemed very friendly and pleasant though. When I was done eating I was quite embarrassed because they do not accept cards which I did not realize before sitting down, ordering and eating my meal. They kindly allowed me to leave their establishment to get some cash (INGLES around the corner) and come back to pay my fair share of their meal. The meal was very small but so was the cost so you have to take that into account. The views on the way there can be spectacular if you avoid the main roads and just take a few back roads. If you’re in the area and give them a try let me know what you’re experience is like and what type of service you get! I’d be curious to know but make sure you bring cash!!
Roli’s Rating:
1. Service: 5/10, My waitress didn’t care about customer service but I saw the other staff interacting and being friendly with their guests plus I was allowed to go grab cash and told, with a smile “no problem at all, we’ll be here”. I suppose service will depend on who you get as your server
2. Price: 10/10, Their meals are on the smaller side but you’ll easily be able to get a burger, fries and a drink for about $6
3. Location and Parking: 7/10, Location isn’t too bad as this location is right down the road from the downtown Cleveland area. Parking isn’t too bad either although I can see it getting a little tight when busy
4. Cleanliness: 10/10, Place seemed to be pretty clean
5. Health Rating: A
6. Roli Overall Rating: 5/10, Ok spot to stop by only if you’re in the immediate area
