Food is good and the atmosphere is fun, great place to eat or to hang out. We got fish tacos on a Friday and brisket tacos. Kids got a burger Smokehouse Cheddar Burger they said it was delicious and they even ate the vegetables that came with it.

This place seems like a new, or recently renovated place. It’s small, but it has amazing service and even more amazing food! Our server was very attentive to our needs and she kept checking on us throughout our meal. We ordered the granny apple salad, buffalo chicken wrap and pulled pork sandwiches. The fries were amazing as well!

First time visiting this quaint establishment. I was initially shocked by its very intimate setting, but the quality of the food and friendliness of the waitress made up for it. Only reason it wasn’t 5* was because the temperature of the restaurant was cold, and the prices were a little high. But like I said, the food tasted great. We had the classic burger and the blue.

Very good food and the menu has a lot of interesting options. We have only been once so far but the family definitely wants to come back. We will bring some friends on our next visit. We had appetizers, pizza and main meals. Tasty food all the way around. Brisket was a tad dry, but they have great tasting sauce. I do suggest a good beer menu at each table or on the wall so we know the various types (Porter, IPA, etc.). I am a craft beer snob and I was even overwhelmed. Staff could be a bit friendlier too. When we arrived no one was there and you would think we would have been super welcomed to stay, but we didn’t quite get that feeling. Maybe they are used to pick up orders because we saw a lot while we were there. I am still giving 4.5 stars because I want this place to succeed.
Burnt ends…these were a bit too burnt and dry.
Chips and salsa…handmade. Very tasty.
Pizza…thin. We we’re surprised it was so good.
Brisket sandwich…tad dry, but great sauce.
Chipotle brisket…tad dry also but not bad overall.
Mac and cheese…very good.
Fries…family loved them.
Mexican corn…too limey, but nice item on menu.

Stopped in and got the Pork & Brisket Combo to go! Sauce was excellent. Meat had a delicious smoky flavor. I will be returning to watch a game or two here. I’ve heard good things about the Ribs and that will be next on my list! Also they have an expansive bar selection, and quite the excellent decor, TVs and friendly staff!

Flavorful Burger, will try the Tacos next time.
Went looking for a new BBQ place nearby and stumbled across Big Iron Horse. Ordered the “Texas Outlaw” (pictured). Pretzel Roll bun was awesome, fries were seasoned well, burger itself tasted great.
The only thing that would prevent me from getting this burger again would be the fact that the pico de gallo was on the burger vs being placed on the side. The liquids from the pico drenched the bottom bun and ruined my first impression of the burger. A soggy bottom bun made it super hard to handle, unfortunately.
The fries didn’t come with any dipping sauces, so I had to ask for a few. Two BBQ sauces were delivered alongside after the fact. The BBQ sauces tasted good, but very hard to tell apart from each other. Pretty heavy on the vinegar ratio.
If you get this burger, ask for the Pico on the side.
Totally trying the tacos next time.

Sadly dissappointed with our take-out experience. Both our ribs and pulled pork entrees were extremely dry. The ribs at least had a drizzle of BBQ sauce on top but the pulled pork literally had just a dab of sauce. I understand they use a dry rub but the pork was very dry and very much needed sauce. Sadly the most enjoyable part of the meal were the sides (Mac n cheese, beans and Mexican corn) and the Monterrey Salad (huge, fresh and flavorful). The cornbread muffin was clearly microwaved too long and was rock solid (inedible). Maybe this is more of an eat-in establishment. I unfortunately cannot recommend getting their BBQ to go.

I loved the smoke house BBQ cheddar bugger! The cilantro and the salted pretzel bun complemented each other perfectly with the Big Iron Horse BBQ sauce. This restaurant is quickly becoming my favorite place in Barrington for a bite to eat. I’m a broke college student and this is the one place I overlook price because of the phenomenal service and quality of food!

We ordered take out from here tonight and most of my family is enjoying the food. Giving three stars because my husbands meal was very small, a small sandwich with little fries. Not enough for the price. I ordered the Mac and cheese and I’m super disappointed. It’s so spicy I can’t even taste any cheese flavor, just pure spice and the texture is off, it’s gritty and not cheesy. It’s not enjoyable at all.
I hear the tacos are great though.
