Reviews
Do NOT miss out on this dining experience in Asheboro and don’t be intimidated by the menu items – they do not disappoint the taste buds!
So it started with a single reservation to try a new restaurant; it’s now been 5 reservations later and left with only a fraction of what we were able to capture. Simply put, it’s amazing. Portions are perfect, flavor is on point every time, and the dining room is so intimate you can’t beat the service. With that said, with larger parties in attendance, it does tend to be a little louder inside but never too loud to not converse and once you get your plate you won’t worry about any noise. I don’t think there are enough good things I could say about Chives, y’all just need to go see for yourselves.
Gratefully, Doug from Lexington NC
From the moment the first dish arrived, it was clear that Chives takes its craft seriously. The crayfish hushpuppies were an absolute revelation—crispy on the outside with tender, flavorful crayfish folded into each bite. It’s the kind of elevated take on a Southern classic that makes you rethink everything you thought you knew about comfort food.
The chicken and waffles struck that perfect balance between indulgent and refined. Every component was executed flawlessly, from the perfectly seasoned, crispy chicken to the fluffy waffles that provided the ideal canvas. This isn’t your typical diner fare—it’s comfort food with finesse.
The lobster dish was nothing short of spectacular. Fresh, succulent, and prepared with obvious care, it showcased the kitchen’s commitment to quality ingredients and expert technique. Each bite was a testament to what upscale dining should be.
Dessert brought the meal to a sublime conclusion with their cheesecake covered in fresh, warm berry compote!. Rich, creamy, and impeccably balanced, it’s the kind of dessert that lingers in your memory long after the last forkful.
Even the mocktail menu impressed—thoughtfully crafted, flavorful, and proof that you don’t need alcohol to enjoy a sophisticated beverage. It’s refreshing to see a restaurant put this much effort into their non-alcoholic options.
What truly sets Chives apart is their dedication to made-to-order preparation. You can taste the difference in every dish. Nothing feels mass-produced or shortcuts taken—just honest, delicious food prepared with skill and attention.
Asheboro finally has the upscale dining destination it’s been craving. Chives isn’t just filling a gap in our restaurant scene; it’s setting a new standard. I’m already planning my next visit.
**Highly recommended for**: Special occasions, date nights, anyone seeking elevated Southern cuisine, and locals who’ve been waiting for exactly this kind of restaurant.
**Will I return?** Absolutely, and often.
The food was incredible! The Bang Bang shrimp made my wife very happy, the mac and cheese was one of the best we’ve ever had (if not THE best), and I loved the southern fried catfish (catfish breaded and fried like classic fried chicken – absolutely BRILLIANT).
We will absolutely return to Chives the next time we are in town and will be recommending it to anyone we know who heads to Asheboro.
We had the crawfish hush puppies, crisp light amazing.
I had the seafood gumbo, FULL of flavors and TON on seafood! For only 30$ feels like steal.
My mom had the lobster bisque she says “perfectly seasoned and just the right amount of creaminess”
My dad had the friend catfish lightly battered and fresh.
For dessert we had the bread pudding with crème glaze which is made to order. And my god, due try.
Although the food was the best in asheboro fine dining, the people there are just so kind and sweet. And the atmosphere is so nice and lovely. They even gave us complimentary fresh beignets! Which was so light and fluffy.
10/10 WILL be coming back.
