We stumbled upon Abi’s Aroma Avenue while searching for authentic South Indian food in Interlaken and we are so glad we did! Interlaken has many Indian restaurants, but only a couple truly offer authentic South Indian flavors, and Abi’s stands proudly at the top.
Abi, the chef and heart of the kitchen, brings an incredible 27 years of experience in F&B, and it shows in every dish. His Hyderabadi chicken biryani was hands-down the best we’ve ever had. We also ordered the thaali with lamb curry, and upon our request, they made it spicier just the way we like it. Every dish was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. Their mango lassi was another delight.
A special mention goes to Swathi, Abi’s wife, who warmly welcomed us and shared the lovely story behind starting their business in Interlaken.
Abi and Swathi make a wonderful team. They are genuinely passionate, and dedicated to serving excellent food. We wish them all the very best with their restaurant and catering business. If you’re in Interlaken and craving truly authentic Indian flavors, don’t miss this place.

This place was awesome! We had one of the best chicken briyani at Interlaken. The rice was fluffy and the chicken was delicious. My 2 kids love it♥️ The mango lassi was very refreshing and good. Will definitely be back to this place to have my Indian food craving.

Very nice Indian restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. They asked me about my preferred spice level, which I really appreciated. Since it was cold in Switzerland in December and I enjoy spicy food, I chose a higher spice level—and it was perfect. I had the lamb thali, which offered a great variety of dishes. The lamb was tender, well-seasoned, and full of flavor, and all the curries were delicious and warming. The portions were generous and very satisfying. At the end, a complimentary dessert was served, which was very tasty and a nice finishing touch. Overall, the prices are affordable for the quality and quantity of food. I would definitely recommend this place and would happily come back again.

A rare place offering delicious South Indian food from Hyderabad. We had Manchuria (first time), Lamb Korma and Veg Thali. Everything was tasty, fresh and well prepared. Unlike most restaurants, the dishes are freshly prepared. Therefore one may need to wait some time before receiving food. This is good for your health.
The owners care about customer satisfaction. We found the Naan&Parotha a bit dry, but were offered more moist ones on the owners initiative.

Amazing food and the ambience, it felt just like home. I stayed in Interlaken for 2 days and had dinner there on both days.
I and my partner loved the taste and the way food was presented. We tried dosa, parantha, dal, rice, buttern paneer masala, methi matar and my favourite masala tea.
The head chef was very polite and also the lady serving food.

The quality of food here is comparable – if not better – than some of those I’ve tried in India, Singapore, London, and Scotland.
This isn’t a “white-washed taste” type of restaurant, it’s absolutely flavourful. The service (Fernando) was exceptional too, it made the entire dining experience a whole lot more enjoyable.
P.S. Added extra naan because the curries were THAT good.
