Stopped in at El Capricho right on charming Main Street in Santa Paula — longtime locals might remember the spot from its earlier days as Vince’s — and wow… what a great experience.

The atmosphere feels warm and welcoming the moment you walk in. Clean, comfortable, and full of that small-town charm that makes Santa Paula special. Looking out onto Main Street while enjoying your meal just adds to the whole vibe — peaceful, classic, and truly local.

I ordered the Bistec Ranchero, and it was outstanding. Tender steak sautéed with onions and bell peppers, topped with rich, homemade salsa that tasted like it came straight from grandma’s kitchen. Comfort food at its finest. One of the best dishes I’ve had in Santa Paula in a long time.

The menu looked solid across the board, and the staff was genuinely friendly and attentive. You can tell they care about the food and the people who walk through their doors.

If you’re in Santa Paula and craving authentic, home-style Mexican food in a relaxed setting, this is absolutely worth the stop.

Every single dish I’ve had here is so delicious! The staff is always friendly and attentive. The coffee is great and the alcoholic beverages are tasty! On the weekends they have live entertainment and it’s always a good vibe.

Cozy setting, top-notch food!

Came in close to closing time (my bad!), but they were happy to seat us & didn’t make us feel rushed. (HUGE thing if you’ve ever worked in service, that’s extremely kind.) The server was kind & helpful.

The food was fresh, delicious, & plated beautifully! The kitchen was fast & the plates are big enough for multiple meals.

Proximity to the coast meant that the seafood menu was extensive. Everything was very fresh, generously portioned, & delicious. Lots of options for vegetarians & vegan tweaks seem like something the kitchen would happily accommodate.

The vibe is laid-back & homey, there were a few families enjoying their evening on the night we visited, definitely seems like a local favorite. Exterior has a stunning Frida Kahlo portrait

Walking distance from the Santa Paula Inn, so weary travelers can pop right over.

They’re open for breakfast too!

Excellent discovery on our way back home from Ventura Beaches. Chilies VERDE omelet is highly recommended! My wife had the costillas de puerco breakfast plate. Couldn’t find anything to complain about. Small place.

I’ve tried the beef soup several times, and the quality has been consistently excellent. I’ve tasted beef soup at many restaurants, and this one is by far the best I’ve had. The caldo de res is outstanding, with high-quality meat and rich, flavorful broth. The service is also great, making it a top-notch dining experience.

Wow wow wow wow

We found this place on desperate wedding hangover breakfast need, and they did not disappoint! I got the Tattoo burrito smothered in their Chile Verde sauce and I’m at blown away. The sauce is divine, I just want to buy a bucket of it and put it on everything! If we ever find ourselves in Santa Paula again, we will be coming back!

Something are higher priced for a small restaurant occasionally to long of a wait. majority of food is real good there’s just sometimes a big miss better of original way but to each it’s own. it’s either a calm felling place or a celebration atmosphere

What a charming place on the main street of Santa Paula. The salsa was spectacular. The ambience was small town chic with beautiful local paintings and colorful mural on the wall. Service was outstanding! I highly recommend this local gem.
