Did not have food so can’t comment on that but did grab a drink which Guinness was recommended. It was poured from a nitro tap and looked just like how a proper Guinness should be. It was $9 which seemed high but I guess that’s going rate from a restaurant. Was surprised there were not any local beers available but maybe since it’s their first few days they are still working with a distributor on those refinements. Was expecting something from Three Notch’d at least since they are one of the largest breweries in the area with wide distribution as well as having brewed a couple beers for the Blues in the past. The most local beer they had was ‘Hazy Like A Fox’ from New Realm out of Va. Beach. Can’t recall them all but it was 5 or 6 beers on tap (Modelo, Mich Ultra, Hazy Like A Fox, Guinness, ….) along with a number of can/bottle beers and some non-beer can options.
Overall, really good spot if you happen to live or be in the Hollymead / Northern Albemarle area and would be a definite recommendation for those looking to get out to watch sporting events on big screens. Only recommendations I would give based on the brief visit would be turn the lights up more at night, make the huge TV less bright if possible and have some local beers on draft.
The food was excellent, and the staff was very quick and attentive. They even let us in before they officially opened so we wouldn’t miss tip-off!
We were really excited about trying a new place but were let down by the extremely limited menu options and oddly thrown by them not serving unsweet or sweet tea (not a make or break, just an interesting choice). Their menu prices are also increased over what was shown on our QR scanned receipt at our table (not sure if that’s an oversight or supposed to be a nice little surprise).
A little overview of pricing: sodas were $4 each or $5 if you wanted a Shirley Temple. $10 for a kids meal grilled cheese and $14 for the burger option. The burger was the best part of our visit!
We were surprised that our server did not check on us after our food was delivered until we were about halfway through with the meal. When she took our order and when she came back to check in if our food was ok, she was kind. When asked what the burger’s den sauce was all she noted was that it was a “secret sauce”. We asked if it was mayo based, spicy or something else and we’re finally told it was a mayo based and not spicy.
There were two gentlemen working on laptops at the top level of seating throughout our visit. We assumed they were management or ownership and were surprised that with the newness of the place that they were not engaging with patrons.
There are quite a number of tvs including the large screen for watch parties and they also have a section for their merch if you are interested in purchasing.
Overall, it was fine. It wouldn’t be my first choice but I might revisit for a change of pace in the warmer months if their outdoor space is open.
Really cool atmosphere with a great mix of screens and seating. I’m not always a sports bar fan (especially the ones with LED screens covering every square inch of flat wall) but this place strikes a great balance of feeling like a local pub and the excitement of sitting in the stands at your favorite stadium!
Definitely recommend giving it a try!
Tucked right here in Charlottesville, this spot doesn’t just serve food, it delivers a full match-day experience. From the moment you walk in, the staff greets you like you just transferred in on a record deal. Friendly, sharp, and always on the front foot. Service moves with pace and precision, no VAR review required.
The Lineup (Food & Beer Selection)
The menu is Simple and delicious. Whether you’re going classic pub fare, leveling up with something more refined, or keeping it simple for the kids, there’s something for every position on the field.
And the beer menu? A proper rotation. Domestic, craft, imports, all well curated and ready for selection like a gaffer choosing his starting XI.
The Guinness Test (Passed)
Let’s talk about the real measuring stick: the Guinness.
A proper pour. Correct glass. Settled head. Clean lines. No shortcuts.
If you know, you know. This one’s Champions League quality.
Big Screen Energy
The Jumbotron-style screen is exactly what a soccer pub should have. Big matches, local games, and even current music videos keep the vibe high. It feels less like “a TV in the corner” and more like you’re in the supporter section just with better seating and better food.
Family Friendly = Academy Approved
Here’s where it separates from the pack: it’s very family-friendly without feeling. Parents can enjoy a pint and a match, kids can eat well, and no one’s stressed about space.
And the outdoor mini soccer fields? Absolute masterstroke. Reserve them, let the kids burn off some energy, and create their own highlight reel while you finish that second round. It’s like running a youth academy while enjoying dinner.
Support Local – FC Blues
While you’re there, grab your season tickets and make a proper evening of it by catching a Charlottesville Blues FC match. The men’s and women’s USL2 squads bring serious energy, great talent, and that authentic local pro vibe. Supporting them feels less like spectating and more like backing your hometown club.
Pair a Fox’s Den dinner with a Blues match and you’ve basically built the perfect Charlottesville game-day doubleheader.
Final Whistle Verdict
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Top-tier hospitality. Great food. Proper Guinness. Big match atmosphere. Lots of fun!
If Charlottesville had a supporters’ shield for restaurants, The Fox’s Den would already be engraving its name.
Now excuse me, I’ve got a pint settling and kickoff approaching.
CHEERS,
Ron
