Never done me wrong. I dropped my ice cream once, they took pity on me. Love this place, wish I lived closer to it. Will be coming here every day during summer. A couple topping options, and multiple ways to eat your ice cream, or even get pancake versions.

They don’t accept cash though.

I love this place! It’s great to get Asian-flavored ice cream. Also their takoyakis are very good too! I like their custard takoyakis and their Oreo one. My boyfriend likes their Nutella one.

The ice cream’s also really great here too. They have a good milk ice cream. I also like their cookies and cream ice cream. They also change up the pairing of their swirls ice cream, so it’s nice to drop by and see which flavors they’ve paired up for swirls this time. I also like how they make the ice cream fancy. You can get a waffle fish on top of your ice cream. Also you can add toppings like sprinkles or Oreo crumbs. And like adding a cherry on top, you can add mini macaron or a strawberry.

The inside is new and clean. There’s not a lot of seating area on the inside, but it’s still pretty popular in the evenings and people just stand around on the inside or outside of the store.

The service is good. I like how you order at the kiosk ordering station. They can take some time to make the takoyakis, but you can watch them make the takoyakis from behind the glass at the counter. Also since this place is so popular you sometimes have to wait for them to make your ice cream too, but I don’t mind the wait because their ice cream concoctions are worth it.

Parking: There are many parking garages in Palo Alto so it’s not too hard for us to find parking

This is a new location for SomiSomi. We prefer the upside down ah-bong with custard filling which comes in a cup. Usual Ah-bong sometimes becomes messy if you’re not a quick eater. The fish waffles are so cute and tasty.
We took strawberry and cookie this time, it’s good. Coffee flavor was a little too strong, you’ll like it if you’re coffee lover.
Flavors change weekly.
This location has got a nice seating area which is yet to open. Looking forward to it.

Matcha soft serve in a cup, with or without the custard filled fish waffle, is excellent. We tried matcha and peach as well (1/2 and 1/2) and admit the second flavor was too sweet. So stick with the green tea classic!

Good place to enjoy Korean desserts, specially Ah-Boong (fish shaped waffle cone served with soft serve). We ordered a Reverse Ah-Boong with Red Bean Paste filling and Ube Ice cream, and Taiyaki (fish shaped waffle filled with a filling of choice) with Nutella and Taro filling. Loved all of it. Would have appreciated a little more Nutella though. Rest was great. The Taro Taiyaki fell apart due to Taro filling, but they were generous enough to offer a new one.

Tastes amazing as always, and the staff was friendly.

I’m giving 4 stars because I think the place could have a better-looking waiting area. It could be cleaner, and adding a couple of tables for seating would really help.

First time trying taiyaki – and it was fabulous! Helpful, welcoming staff helped with recommendations. We tried the red bean and cheddar. Fun to watch them being made. Crispy, chewy, tasty perfection. Easy to munch on while we walked around enjoying downtown Palo Alto. So good!

Creamy and sweet soft serve in a soft fish-shaped waffle cone, what’s not to like, right? Especially with an add-in and topping included!

Unfortunately, the ube and sweet corn combo flavor I tried today just tasted a lot more like a generic (and a bit too sweet) soft serve without the characteristic flavors of either ube or corn.

Also, there’s not much in the way of comfortable/inviting seating inside, and no seating outside, so definitely not a great place to come with friends.

So in short, lovely idea, disappointing execution :

Absolutely lovely soft serve restaurant with authentically East Asian flavors including black sesame, matcha, and ube. The fluffy pastry fish also can be filled with different flavors including taro and red bean. They are very nice to offer free toppings including Biscoff, flakey coconut, matcha powder, cookie, and a macaron. Very fast service, all quite nice, and can order on a screen. Would absolutely go here when visiting!!!

Only $7 including tax for this treat. Highly recommend going!!!

SOMISOMI – Palo Alto, CA
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Food:

**Upside Down Ahbong with Ube/Milk, Cookie Crumbs, & Red Bean Filling**
– This was easily our favorite flavor combination.
– The ube paired perfectly with the cookie crumbs.
– The red bean filling added a delightful taste.

**Upside Down Ahbong with Cookies ‘n Cream/Matcha, Cookie Crumbs/Matcha Powder, & Matcha Custard**
– The matcha ice cream, powder, and custard were all incredibly flavorful.
– I wished for more cookie crumbs.
– The cookies ’n cream was good, but didn’t quite match up to the other flavors.

**Upside Down Ahbong with Milk/Black Sesame & Matcha Custard**
– An excellent combination of flavors.

I visited this spot twice with my boyfriend, and it was absolutely delicious. They offer a variety of flavors, which seem to rotate regularly, making each visit a new experience. I love that they allow you to add extra toppings at no additional cost. I will definitely return to try more flavors in the future. Highly recommend this ice cream spot!
