Great spot for breakfast. Try their Grammy jam, their homemade jam is spectacular , based on the recipe from the owner’s grandmother. Also fantastic is the molasses oat bread. Delicious coffee as well. The care they put into the food and hospitality is quite evident. The food and service was top notch. Update: The owner personally offered me a sample of their candied jalapeno bacon, which was delicious! My amazing server t let me try their dark roast coffee which was also delicious. I can’t recommend this place enough for their incredible service and delectable cuisine.

Had the opportunity to share River House with a dear friend today and the entire experience was absolutely perfect. We both had the infamous Reuben Sandwiches and for dessert the extra delicious chocolate potato chip cookies. You guys hit it out of the park! Thank you!

I gave 4 stars on atmosphere only because I think during Dinner a simple ‘tablecloth’ and upgraded napkins would better suit the Finer Dining experience as the dishes are next level. Love when there is live music!

I was there for breakfast recently.
The coffee was bitter and tasted burnt. Like cigarettes. I brought it up to the waitress and her response was that no one else had complained about the coffee. Made me feel like I was the problem. She offered to take the coffee off the ticket. She didn’t.
Ordered a side of thick cut bacon. It was burnt. Black.
Half star for the coffee/bacon
The lack of caffeine may have left me in a less than happy mood, as the rest of the food was just okay. I was not impressed with their Uli’s breakfast sausage. It had a tough, lean texture, reminiscent of a bad turkey sausage. The price for my breakfast was too high for what you get.
Two stars for the rest of the breakfast
The biscuit was very good. Golden brown, slightly crunchy on the outside. Light and flaky inside. I ate that with their (made in house?) jam, but would have been equally good plain.
Five stars for the biscuit.
Overall impression of service: Why bring up that no one else had a problem with the coffee? . I got charged for the coffee though she said she would take it off. Yeah, no bueno. That just made me feel unheard, so I did not bring up the bacon nor impression about the food. Oh, at no time did anyone ask me ‘How’s everything?’

I’d driven up from Seattle for a quick weekend getaway, and let’s just say my little town isn’t exactly known for its diversity. Walking into the restaurant that evening, I was very aware that I was the only Black woman in the room (maybe even the only one in the whole zip code). The vibe felt a little chilly at first; some of the staff barely made eye contact, and I started wondering if I should’ve just grabbed takeout and headed back to my hotel.
Then Derek showed up and gave me a table with the biggest, most genuine smile I’ve seen in a long time. He greeted me like he’d known me for years, asked how my drive was, recommended the perfect cocktail, and checked in just the right amount without hovering. For the first time all weekend, I actually relaxed and felt seen. He turned what could’ve been an awkward solo dinner into one of the highlights of my trip.
Derek, wherever you are right nowthank you. You have no idea how much that kindness meant to this Seattle girl far from home. I’m already planning my next visit, and trust me, I’ll be asking for your section.
