I got the ginger chicken and my buddy got the yellow curry chicken bowl, both had great flavors, we both asked for spicy, but definitely wasn’t Thai spicy. Great sized portions so took half home for later and once I added more spicy flavors to it it made it even better. I’ll be back, but I’ll make sure she knows we like it Thai spicy and not Troutdale spicy.

This E-San Thai cart is very catered to the surrounding community’s palette…of a certain complexion…meaning no spice and heat.
I’ve had this cart a couple times and it’s very bland is all I can say. By default they don’t ask you for spice level, other Thai places like in Portland usually do — this tells you about the community, and if you tell them a certain spice level, it’s a notch below other E-San Thai carts or Thai cart/restaurant standards.
If you want to show love to an E-San Thai cart, visit the gentleman at Gresham Food Carts on Burnside.

Completely disappointed. The mango sticky rice was made with hard, underripe fruit that tasted more like an apple than a mango. The salad rolls were bland, and the peanut sauce was watery and flavorless. At this point, it felt less like bad luck and more like a lack of quality control. Nothing tasted fresh or properly prepared. I won’t be returning.

Got the garlic and black pepper chicken and fried wontons.
Meal arrived and was delightful in both taste and presentation. Next time I’m in Troutdale, will make the time for another exciting run at the menu

Be forewarned that on the website it indicates you have the option to make things vegan. After going there they informed me how the items we wanted had shrimp paste in them and asked “how vegan” we were. They also said if it’s not an allergy then it is ok. You can’t even just remove the egg in the pad Thai since the sauce has shrimp paste. We ended up leaving without getting anything since everything we wanted (that the website showed we could order vegan) was not able to be made vegan. The customer service was good and they were knowledgeable I just wish we knew before about it before we were disappointed and had to go elsewhere.
