Usually see people waiting outside this place. Decided to give this a try when there was no line.

We ordered the beef, shrimp and pork liver porridge The porridge consistency is good, however, the beef is a bit chewy and the pork liver isn’t great. Only the shrimp is ok.

For the rice noodles, we got the Chinese donut wrapped in rice noodles but it’s not good. Chinese donut is all soft and soagy. It doesn’t taste fresh. The noodles are pretty thin but the whole dish doesn’t taste good. The food is not warm either and the sauce is too salty. Very disappointing.

Curry fish balls and pork skins is decent. The fish balls texture is bouncy. This seems to be the best dish out of all of them.

We were happy that we got to try it without waiting for table but are disappointed that the porridge and rice roll noodles are not as good as we hoped for

A causal eatery serving authentic Cantonese rice noodle rolls stuffed with different types of meats, seafood or vegetables. The rice rolls with beef stew, bbq pork or shrimp were consistently good, but those with pork liver tasted gamy on the day we went. We also had the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, which was quite good. They also serve traditional Cantonese savory rice congee with meats and other types of Cantonese street foods. Service was fast. Price was reasonable.

The pork kidney wasn’t fresh and was extremely gamey, the pork liver was overcooked and tough, and the rice rolls were cold. The Chinese broccoli was so fibrous. completely ruined my expectations. Not coming back.

A friend recommended this place for the authentic food from her hometown and it became absolutely one of my favorite! The rice noodle rolls are very different from the ones I usually got from dim-sum place. Here they’re thinner with more layers and more fillings and tasted much better. I like the beef rice noodle roll the best – the beef was very tender, full of flavors. And the congee, very satisfying. The vegetable dish was fresh, cooked just right. All the dishes I tried had great portion for their price. I’d definitely recommend this place. A must try!

We chose: beef brisket (beef in a 5-spice sauce with greens), lemongrass chicken wings (great fried chicken, 4pcs) Sampan Porridge (mixed meat porridge with peanuts and egg on top), Chinese donut (great with porridge), BBQ pork rice noodle (big noodle with BBQ pork and soy sauce) and chicken and mushroom rice noodle. They brought out water, bowls and utensils. The hot sauce and a couple of other sauces were already on the table for your taste. Everything was tasty, good size servings. This was a nice surprise. Service was nice.

New review from coming back the next day: I ordered the sampan porridge ($12) which was way more interesting. It’s initially just a big bowl of meh white porridge. You can throw in some green onions and crushed nuts or garlic (idk) which really level up the porridge flavors. The fun part is searching for the white fish, shrimp, squid, etc in the bowl. It’s a big bowl with lots of hidden goodies that I wasn’t able to finish on my own. It tasted great and it was a little fishing adventure.

Original review:
I had the beef brisket rice noodle roll for about $10. I never had a rice noodle roll before, it’s like one big lump of noodle. The meat was great chewy and completely enveloped in a lot of sauce which was yummy. The dish came with a hot tea which was a nice touch. This is a preliminary four star review because I think this place is a side dish away from being a five star for me. I am definitely coming back to explore more of the menu.

The menu is on the wall above the check counter on the side of entry. While you order and pay at the front, your seats are being set up.
The fish in the fish rice roll tastes very interesting with a chewy texture. It’s a contract to the softness of rice sheet. We really enjoyed this dish.
There are many different of rice rolls and porridges one can try. The speed of serving is very impressive, too.

Tried a big selection of their rice noodles and the top pick porridges during our visit. I am not a big fan of their take on the rice noodle’s texture. They are on the harder side and less glutenous than the ones I remember as a kid growing up eating. The sampan porridge, the soups and chicken wings are not bad. The fish filet in the fish porridge were too crunchy and fishy though.

Many people claim to have authentic Chinese food and the best one too, but in reality, many fail to meet the bar or even see where the bar is due to cost and time cutting measures. Well, look no further because this restaurant taste amazing. From their side dishes to their main dishes like porridge, you can taste the love in their cooking with every dish made from scratch and cooked to perfection.

The porridge is slow cooked with the flavor infused with each grain of rice and each bite you take. (Not every dish).

There are still some downsides with some dishes not having that infused flavors, but the meat was very tender.

Last but not least, they are quick and efficient making it a great place for a quick stop for a snack too! Their style is pay now, eat as long as you want and when you’re ready to leave, you can leave. No more having to wait for the waiter to serve and retrieve your receipt.

For price, as many things are on the rise, prices here are pretty average. They’re not WOW! BANG for buck, but they’re not frugal with their portions. The value is fair and is at an acceptable price.

A taste of greatness.

Cheap Asian food that tastes super good? Sign me up!

This place gets so packed even right after it opens so make sure you show up at opening time.

Good:
– Fast service. You place an order at the front and get seated super quickly.
– The sampan porridge was so good. Just so tasty and the toppings were perfect and the little pork flakes and you tiao was perfectly textured.
– the beef brisket noodle rolls were so tasty too and a unique texture
– the curry fish balls were a great addition

Bad:
– Just so busy! Harder to flag the waiters down.
– Casual no frills ambiance

Overall loved this place and would come again. It’s so cheap for a dish and portion sizes are great.
