My favorite was the pork belly
A tortilla full of flavor was a party in my mouth! Very reasonably priced too, $8 for two tacos.
Place is cute and I can’t wait for them to get their beer and wine license. We will definitely return soon!
The sides deserve just as much praise as the mains (don’t skip them). Everything tastes homemade and thoughtfully prepared, not like an afterthought. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the quality is consistent.
On top of the food, the service is friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience feel relaxed and authentic. South Side BBQ isn’t trying to be fancy—it’s just doing BBQ right. Easily a go-to spot and a must-visit for anyone who loves great barbecue.
The staff was super friendly something rear in this area. I ordered the 3 protein 3 side and some extras. I recommend the pork belly, wagyu, hot link and chicken. Pork belly, wagyu stood out to me. For the sides they are all very good. The Mac is a definite must try with the platter adding the different meats to it “chefs kiss”
I loved the food so much I will be attempting to get the company I work for to cater from this place.
I enjoy it an excellent taste.
I had the Japanese A-5 Rib Eye Wagi Steak, Suzuki Salsa Verde,
Pork Belly-Asian Fision and Marinated Grilled Shrimp. And I love the chicken wings House BBQ Sauce and Garlic Chili Sauce love the flavor oh boy mmm mmm……..
Now for the review. I ordered the three protein and three sides combo while my wife ordered the 2 slider and fries combo.
My choices were brisket, hot link and quarter baby back ribs for protein and the garlic mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and cowboy beans as the sides. The ribs were meaty and properly sauced, no complaints there. Easily the best of the three options. The hot link didn’t impress me. I don’t mean the following as an insult but merely as a description to get the point across. It tasted like a Walmart bought hot link cooked in an air fryer then slathered in BBQ before served on the plate. Something easily reproduceable at home rather than from a restaurant. For the brisket I was expecting to receive slices but what was on the plate was a shredded mess. This was heavily sauced and mixed in with the fatness from the brisket. The end result was a glob of fat, BBQ sauce with some semblance of the brisket. It was most disappointing as I was looking forward the most to trying that out. Speaking of disappointment, the sides were easily the worst part of this platter. The mac and cheese on the surface looked cheesy and inviting. Upon taking the first bite it tasted so plain… So much so that it was eating a mouthful of plain pasta straight out of the freshly boiled pot. This was most confusing as the pasta was very much covered in cheese but I could not taste the cheese at all. I reached over to my wife to try some just to make sure I wasn’t crazy and she agreed with my sentiments. The mashed potatoes were somehow worse. The texture was even and fluffy but it tasted like plain potatoes. No semblance of garlic or salt. For this, I too reached over to my wife and she said it was severely lacking salt and/or garlic. The cowboy beans were okay though I’m a bit biased. I really like BBQ beans myself and was a bit disappointed that these resembled “normal” beans dressed in a BBQ theme. They didn’t taste bad by any means, just not my flavor.
My wife said her Kobe slider was delicious. Good blend of cheese, the meat and bacon. However she had the same complaint about the brisket slider. Just a globby mess she couldn’t take another bite of.
The fact that I could only truly enjoy 2/6 things in my plate left a lot to be desired. That’s the reason I am giving this location a two star.
Pulled pork sandwich: dry like if it was re-heated. No smoke flavor. Meat and coleslaw portion were not enough.
Mac n Cheese w/ crispy bacon bits: loved the fresh bacon bits, the Mac n Cheese although cheesy, needed a bit more attention.
Wagyu Brisket Sandwich: No smoke flavor, bad after taste.
