1st time there. The cashier is very friendly. The food is by weight. The salad bar and meat BBQ all charged by weight. The meat is well seasoned. Not too salty. The salad bar Also has promotion that to go for $12 only. We sat down to eat. We enjoyed so much we also purchased the salad bar to go deal for dinner. Will come back again.

Terrible staff, I’ve been client of this place for years, i won’t ever come back there again. The lady that works at the cashier is very rude and she looks alway angry, how can you have a angry face towards your customers. Every time I said thank you she just ignored me and I feel that she is very upset. Last night I had a very bad experience, I was getting food from the buffet with my wife and the guy that works at the grill was talk with a old woman from the kitchen and steering at us, I’m sure they were talk shit about us. The she came up and start cleaning the buffet are while ai was still adding food on my plate , the dirty rug even touched my food, I told my wife that’s enough, we paid for the food and left, I won’t never come back there again

Terrible experience. Ordered a small portion of the skirt steak and 1 brazilian sausage. Proceeded to the buffet to add a few more things to my plate. A young lightskinned short haired male told me the total was $36!!!! I asked him why was my bill so high. He stated because i ordered the skirt steak, and the skirt steak is more expensive per pound. I told him that i have a small portion of skirt steak and why was he applying the price of the skirt steak to my entire plate. He said because you put everything it together (was an honest mistake). Instead of doing the right thing and weighing the skirt steak separately he gave me an attitude. I told him leave the bill as is but i will never come back to this place because of him. USA Brazilian on Gramatan avenue is way better and they treat you decent unlike this guy.

The place is very nice! You get your meal in the buffet, choose a meat for the server to cut up for you, and pricing is based on the weight of the food. It’s pretty pricey, but if you can afford to, this place has some really solid food. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The food at one time was excellent. The food now is at times too salty for my taste. All in all the experience cold be better especially for the prices. The meat preparer with the glasses always prepares the meats to perfection. When he’s not there I just get something from the buffet.

Highlights Skirt steak and short ribs.
Sauces are good and the rice and beans are decent however,after seeing the receipt we payed over 30 bucks on a small portion of rice and beans.(Less than one cup of rice and an even smaller portion of beans combined) We also tried the sirloin which was gamey (do not recommend )and the garlic ribs that basically was salt with a side of meat. Overall the food is not worth the price, extremely expensive and heavily salted. Will not be returning.

The state of Minas Gerais is the original home to many of the folks who have come to make Mount Vernon their home, starting back in the 1980’s. Nowadays, churrascarias both Brazilian and Portuguese can be found near the center of this small city just north of the Bronx, along with bakeries, butchers, and other businesses catering to what is said to be more than one in every ten people in Mount Vernon.
Having walked through the area on a couple occasions but never eaten, recently an opportunity finally presented itself at Chalanas, a casual churrascaria that is a good primer to town. While many churrascarias will charge one price and allow unlimited dining, some ask diners to make plates for themselves, weigh everything, and pay up front like they do here. For people who never quite feel that they can take full advantage of an all-you-can-eat rodizio situation, this is preferable and also doubles as a way to limit your indulgence knowing that every extra cut of picanha or spoon of beans will cost you.
