We went to Big Sammy’s for the Bears vs 49ers game, and we had blast. The big surprise for me was the pizza. OMFG… The sausage pizza is probably the best pizza in the area and maybe a contender as one of the best pizzas in Chicagoland.
I didn’t get the Chicago Pizza because these folks are Italian. I’m not going to ask an Italian to make me a Deep Dish, but this pizza reminded me of the pizza we got in Italy.
My wife and family are over the moon about how good this pizza is. We are going to be ordering to go today and I’ll update on the to-go experience.
Update: We ordered online last night and picked up the pizza. The pizza was still awesome but not as good as in the restaurant. It just hits different with the pizza tin and it coming directly from the oven. We popped in the oven at home and it returned to greatness.
Additionally, my wife got the margherita pizza and she loved it.

Big Sammy’s has the best pizza in the area in my opinion. If you don’t believe me, go in and order the sausage pizza. Just a sausage pizza. Then you tell me where a better pizza exists in the area.
Additionally, they do all the Bears games and that is a great time too.
The owner is almost always there and he is super nice and will check on you.

The experience here could’ve been better if the service person was more attentive.
Everything was hurried and more transactional. Not much warmth in the service at all unfortunately.
In fact, after serving each thing, the lady serving us was just rushing back. Never returning to ask “how is everything going?”
There were that many people that she was serving.
The bread that was served was very chewy and not easy to bite off. I wanted to tell our server about it but could not get a word in since she was rushing constantly. Then I noticed that other tables were also struggling with their bread as well.
We got:
Italian beef rolls for appetizers – tasty and good but not great. Deep fried so definitely not healthy at all but worth trying.
Gnocchi – which was just OK and nothing exceptional for the price charged for it.
Eggplant Parmesan – which was very good and differently worth ordering if you go.
The ambiance of the place is very festive and joyful overall. Liked that very much.
When it was time to pay, the tip options were:
20% and above
Hmmm…
For the service we received, that did not seem fair.
When you go to a pricey place like this, service is more important than even the food in my opinion.
And just because of that alone, I would not recommend this place

Had it delivered for dinner. Chicken Parmesan with spaghetti marinara, Lasagna Bolognese, ceasar salad, and tiramisu.
Everything was awesome. The marinara sauce has an interesting flavor that makes it stand out from other restaurants. Really good.

First time dining here, and everything was great! Our food was ready within fifteen minutes of us ordering, and it hit the spot. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely be back to try other items on the menu!

Sammy is the sweetest person and comes around to greet everyone. We have gone on weekends at 8pm with our grandchildren and felt welcomed and safe for family. Pizzas, calzones and giant meatballs are all delicious.

The food is probably fine when you sit down to eat, but we placed a to-go order and they happily sent us on our way with burned food. Given the pricing, I would expect the quality control to be a little higher. The food that wasn’t burned was decent.

It was packed in there for the bears game tonight, all the food was fantastic! I love their sweet potato fries!!!Service and everyone that was working were super sweet and helpful! They even had a guy running around with a bears flag! It was great!

Food was pretty good. The portions were quite sizable. Sammy even came to our table and introduced himself. Our waiter was very kind and honest. At one point he admitted to my wife and I that the food was taking a tad longer than anticipated. In my experience, this is not common and was a breath of fresh air.
The only issue we had was our original table was under a light that was essentially strobing. It hurt my eyes and they were more than willing to move us to a better booth.

Great local spot for the family! Food has been great in our experiences, especially the Italian beef and pizzas! Lots of tvs for sports fans and plenty of seating with friendly service!
