Having loved their dim sum, we came back for a Cantonese dinner tonight—and it did not disappoint. If you want truly authentic dim sum, soups, and classic Cantonese dishes, this is definitely one of LA’s go-to established spots.
You can tell just by the food—this is real Cantonese cuisine, prepared by skilled chefs who clearly know what they’re doing.
Highly recommend their live seafood: fresh, market-priced, and cooked any way you like. They also offer large round tables and private rooms, perfect for groups or special occasions.

Went to have dim sum. After placing orders, 45 minutes later only half my orders were fulfilled. Ask bald waiter with the silly pony tail on top of his head to check on my orders; with indignation and an attitude, he said they will only steam the dim sum after the order is received and that we should wait for the food like everyone else and then walked away immediately. I didn’t even have a chance to tell him tables near us who ordered the same items as us and arrived later then us have received their orders already. My wife flagged down another waiter who found out that our order slip was misplaced in the kitchen and that’s why we did no get our food. We will not be returning to this restaurant. That bald waiter with the silly patch of hair on top should not be working as a waiter!!!

You will not find a worst place for dim sum. Horrible service, food quality. I left a zero tip because the wait staff acts like you are bugging them when you waive them down. The manager came running after me complaining I didn’t leave a tip.

Ordered dip sum that looked like precooked one, not as fresh as it should be.

The Rowland Heights branch has been open for almost four months, and today was my first time trying it out. Unfortunately, they couldn’t serve king crab due to a shortage. At $3.99 per pound, it’s probably the best price in Los Angeles. I’ll definitely visit again. Today’s menu included live shrimp, scallop and fish maw soup, roasted pigeon, garlic water spinach, seafood tofu casserole, and typhoon shelter crab. Aside from the crab, which wasn’t ideal, perhaps due to insufficient weight, the other dishes were above average. I’ll definitely return soon.

Restaurant owner: Can you change the staff in your takeout department? Every time I order food, the waiters are so cold and indifferent. Today was no exception, except for the chef who carves the roast duck! I saw only one small yellow-feathered chicken in the cupboard, so I asked the chef if there were any other, slightly larger ones. The chef replied: “This is a chicken, not a cow! How could it possibly be that big?” Wow, they’re so good at being rude! They’re all really elite!

I ordered lobster noodles and three dim sum dishes, but the lobster noodles turned out to be half soup noodles. I can only say that the chef on Tuesday was incompetent.

We had dinner with friends. We chose Shanghō because:
1. It’s close to the highway. 2. It has easy parking. 3. It offers good value.
