Social Profile:

The Kate Pearl Tea Room is an English-style tearoom designed to provide our customers with periods of respite while dining on freshly prepared foods of the highest quality accompanied by a wide variety of fine teas. Our mission is to connect generations. We see so many guests introducing the younger generations to the fine art of afternoon tea, and it brings us so much JOY! We named our tea room in honor of our Great Great Grandmother, Kate Pearl Loose, who was known for always being quite the “put together” lady. She wouldn’t even go to her mailbox without her hat & gloves, stockings, purse, and of course – her pearls! Our tea room is a place to unwind. We like to think of it as a spa for the soul.

A truly magical experience!

My fiancée and I went here for her birthday and we could not have had a better time! Everyone was so kind and extremely friendly! The food was fantastic, the room and table were magical and the TEA! The massive selection of tea blends they had to offer was overwhelming!

A truly amazing experience, we drove almost an hour to get there and it was totally worth it! We plan on going back for their holiday festivities!

We went here for the Royal Tea experience. Full thing took about two hours and we ordered about 6 different teas. You have to really really really plan out when you want your reservation. If you want a weekend, you basically have to book 3 months in advance as soon as it opens up!!! That’s not a complaint, just a tip.
I also want to add during your reservation you can mention any dietary restrictions you may have. They are very accomodating.

This was an incredibly cute experience. I’ve never used lil sugar cubes before. As much tea as you could want. The food did take a long time to come out which is part of the reason why we were sitting for two hours. I’m not sure if that’s typical. But even in small portions, it is more than enough for a typical person. By the time you get your food tower, you’ll probably be full from what was served before and the tea. It was all very cute. I loved the tea pot cozies too.
Only critique I currently have is that I ordered I think it was called the Starry Night? And it was supposed to come with shimmer and sprinkles and it had neither 🙁
I’d still very very much recommend this experience.

Had a lovely afternoon tea with my mother at Kate Pearl Tea room in Sykesville. We got the Royal tea service which consisted of an appetizer, blueberry peach scone (Delicious) with clotted cream and jam, soup (Cold strawberry soup which was good but basically tasted like a slightly thinned out strawberry smoothie) and salad, sandwiches, savories and sweets, and a light bubbly fruit drink and some ice cream.. And of course let’s not forget the tea. We both got black teas. I got tropical Paradise and my mother got butterscotch. If you’ve never done afternoon tea, definitely recommend stopping by Kate’s or any other tea room. It’s a great & fun experience. Our server. Naomi was very nice and attentive.

Our experience with Kate Tea Room was not as it used to be from the past owner “Simplicitea “. Had the Light luncheon tea , staff was great, very accommodating and pleasant, the starting Scones were over baked ,hard and quite tasteless, the sandwiches while tastey were really small. I had asked on the online reservation which asked what allergies or items you DONT want , i indicated no pork, well we got 2 very small open faced pork infused bread pieces w/ balsamic on it. Size of this tea used to be much better from past owner ( Simplicitea) considering the bill with tip is $80, it was worth it in the.past but i cant see spending that with the current ownership. The ending deserts were quite good as was the tea which had a great selection and very tasty. Oh and a note when making reservations on line please note the confirmation is NOT texted to you, they require it to be phone called to you from them which wont be done that day usually several days later. I dont know about you but I do not pickup on calls that are “potential spam” suggest Kate’s revert to a more modern , SAME DAY confirmation platform (they got quite miffed when they couldn’t reach me when I called 2 days before to confirm myself. ) Suggest going to the Westminster venue, none of my review of Sykesville applies to them as they were pretty much spot on with all they offer.

The room was nice and festive and the tea selection was vast, but unfortunately this really left me disappointed. The food was minimal. They didn’t even provide one of each item per person. The food looked more like scraps. I’m sorry but pigs in blankets don’t belong in a tea offering. The worst part was being rushed out the door. A tea is a leisurely experience after an hour and a quarter, it was obvious they wanted us to leave. At an hour and a half, the staff brought out their coats and stared at us. I understand if it was late at night or past two hours but this is really not acceptable. Their clotted cream was whipped cream. They gave us about 2 tbsp of jam to share among 5 people and when we asked for more, they said they were out. Idk how a tea room is so short on supplies but that’s pretty sad. It was just a total miss and a sad version of what should be a delightful experience.

We had a lovely tea here. We made reservations, and came for the Victorian tea. We were each able to choose one tea, and we chose white peach and white strawberry. Then we could choose soup or salad. I really enjoyed the salad. Next was a scone, which was absolutely delicious. After that was a tray of little sandwiches, quiche, and desserts. They were all good, though the quiche was not our favorite. The service was excellent overall. We were seated at a table right by the window, and it was really hot. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and I would return for another special event.

Staff is very nice and friendly. Really cute tea spot with a variety of teas. We scheduled for an event with a large group. Everything was perfectly organized. Food was great. Scones and sandwiches are amazing. Loved the garden vegetable soup. Delicious desserts.

This place is very cute and super fun for a one-time experience! I say that as I won’t be coming back for a couple of reasons: one is that the little snacks, while tasty enough, were probably mostly bought in. The oranges on our tower were even a little dry and had suspicious dots of blue on it. Two piggybacks off this: the price is just not suited to the quality and quantity of the food. I know I am mostly paying for the experience, but 35 each after tip for *light* (not even the regular) afternoon tea is steep. I’d consider it steep at a restaurant, too, honestly. Positives: the service was fantastic and made us feel welcome and paid attention to. The tea aspect of the experience was great! The ones we got were tasty (and the tea menu was extensive). Our pots were wrapped in fabric and we were provided w sugar and cream. The atmosphere was great and felt like we’d stepped into a different time. That felt like the thing I was buying because I felt I could recreate all the other parts of the experience at home. But overall, I enjoyed my time! It was fun and a nice way to spend an afternoon and the shops nearby are fun to explore.

Lovely tea room in downtown Sykesville. Our party of 4 visited on Saturday for lunch & thoroughly enjoyed. They were busy but still received great attentive service. The atmosphere was lovely, food presentation on point, and everything was delicious. We had the royal tea which was filling & had many teas to choose from. Would highly recommend & will return!
