We happened to stumble upon Bento-Ya during a quick day trip to Chattanooga. This place is PHENOMENAL! Greeted as soon as we walked in by all staff, menu wasn’t overwhelming, and the food was every bit of 5 stars! My daughter and I both had the salmon and tuna poke bowl, I tried both onigiri flavors, and my husband got ramen and salmon nigiri. The fish was so incredibly fresh in all of our dishes. We will definitely be back next time we are in Chattanooga!

The food was truly outstanding, the flavors were perfectly balanced, everything tasted fresh, and each dish was clearly prepared with care. The restaurant has a calm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to stay. The space is a bit limited, so while we didn’t have to wait for a table, some guests who arrived after us did, though the wait wasn’t too long. We’ll definitely be back! 10/10

Totally unique place for Chattanooga. I don’t think we have another restaurant like it. The food was very good, we had a bento box, rice don, and our favorite item Inari. The food was really good. The service was always outstanding. Only reason for 4 starts is imop it’s a little expensive. The vegan options are the same price as the meat options which is always a little annoying. Other than that it great.

You can really tell that this place takes quality seriously. Food was fresh and delicious. A glimpse into the kitchen reveals people working with care and real intentionality. They were very kind and welcoming. I highly recommend checking this place out if you like Japanese food or your looking for something healthy.

Bento ya is so good! Really delicious food — some of the best tonkotsu broth I’ve ever had. The salmon rice don and tuna sushi is also awesome. Can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu.

This restaurant looks nice from the outside. On the inside, the same person who prepares the food does the dishes. I watched the guy put noodles into a cup and microwave it. Anyone who says this is “authentic” Japanese food is lying to your face. There wasn’t a single Japanese person behind the counter.
We ordered food and waited over 45 minutes only to watch a table get served 10 minutes after entry. We asked for a refund before even getting our food, and they called their manager, who, for some reason, wasn’t even at the location, to get us our refund.
Everyone in the room already had their food when we ordered. We were first in line. And they wanted to argue with us saying, “your food is already done.” THEN WHY ISN’T IT AT THE TABLE?!
Edit: they refunded the meals, but kept the tips. 20% minimum, btw.
