Reviews
Check your food before leaving the restaurant
have given these employees a good tip for their service. They all worked hard when a/c went out waiting to get part and it was extremely hot in there but they all kept filling orders for numerous days. And as far as reading the reviews on staff rude I have been there numerous times and never have I had any of the employees be to me. I personally wouldn’t smile at ones being rude to me while I’m trying to take their orders. Be kind and get kind back. It’s sad when most give reviews when things don’t go their way.
The lasagna consisted of a few noodles drowned in tomato sauce with a thin layer of melted cheese on top, lacking substance and flavor. The salads were far from fresh, with ingredients that tasted like they had been sitting in the fridge for days. The pizza was mediocre, failing to meet even basic expectations for quality.
Worse, my wife, our two young children (ages 2 and 4), and I all became ill after eating the meal. This raises serious concerns about food safety. We wanted to support a local business, but the poor quality and apparent lack of care in preparation make it difficult to justify returning. I regret not checking reviews beforehand, as this experience was a waste of money and left us unwell. I hope the restaurant addresses these issues, as they fall short of what customers deserve.
After talking to management with serious concern, I decided to post this review after they brushed me off and were rude. I won’t hold back for this one now…
Worst meal I’ve had in 25+ years of living in the area, top 3 worst meals of my life and the first time I’ve ever had to call management/owner over inedible food. An absolute Kitchen Nightmare and no one there seems to care. Serious health hazards could occur here based on my experience working/managing kitchens, to the point I’m almost convinced I should call the health department. There is incompetence in Roma’s kitchen, it’s only a matter of time before someone gets seriously sick or even dies.
This is the first and last time I’m ever ordering from here again. First time I’ve ever been inclined to request a Grubhub refund. $60 worth of food and not a single edible thing according to ALL 4 people who tasted the food. Everything got nibbled on and then directly thrown to the trash. The philly sandwiches were impossibly dry, the chicken philly meat was so overcooked that it was like chewing shards of plastic, my gums were bleeding trying to get the first bite down. The bread was stale, you can toast it all you want to hide it, but stale bread is stale bread. The rookie cook in the kitchen obviously dropped our fried food first and then left it sitting on an oven or counter somewhere for 15-20 minutes before delivery. The fries were cold, wet, and slimy, it was painfully obvious this stuff was out of the fryer for a complete hour before reaching us. The fried mushrooms tasted like the oil hasn’t been changed in over a month and the mushrooms were definitely not fresh. Just an absolute mess of stale ingredients and frozen crap being disguised as “food” and resold to you for $10+ per person.
I called the next day to have a real discussion about this, because as a small business owner I would love if all my customers pointed out their bad experiences… especially if I was taking $60 of their money and offering nothing in return but potential health risk. I feel obligated as someone who’s run the local kitchens around the Franklinton/Youngsville area in the past to at least say something, to give warning to the owners and customers about what’s going on in this kitchen.
Upon asking for management or the owner, someone else came back to the phone. When I asked if they were management or the owner they simply stated “Yes”, and when I asked again to clarify whether they were the owner or manager so that I could choose my words better to fit the conversation, I was met with “Yes” again. This was the first rude gesture which was doubled down on, the second came after calmly explaining the situation about how I wasn’t calling to complain, but to give reason as to WHY the refund happened, the experience I had, and if business is on the decline that I would start looking at the kitchen staff who were responsible for this inedible food. I was told to “Take pictures next time”… as if a picture is going to properly diagnose stale bread, overcooked chicken, unchanged fryer oil and improper food handling. I politely ended the conversation there, this guy definitely was not the owner and was likely responsible for the food the previous night.
Take your business elsewhere and let this place shut down, the community deserves better than this. It’s time to give someone else a shot at running a restaurant at this location that will better serve you and your family. Stay safe guys, and stay away from Roma’s.
Just an utter shame. I gave 1 star for service since someone who claimed to be management or the owner actually spoke with me.
