Wonderful friendly atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed the Drunken Street Chicken Noodle (n. 27). prepared by the gprgeous Malie. Tommy is the best host in Oxford. Charming old English pub definitely worth a visit! Do, do, do!

Superb local pub. A curious Irish Thai fusion. Yet both genuine. The Thai food delicious and clearly made from scratch in kitchen. Two chilli symbol hot enough for me. Lots of flavour. Shared stater and had jungle chicken. Washed down with local draught beer. Pub good vibe once you settle in, we cycle there and maybe a few not from around here looks.

We had probably the best Thai meal we have had for years at the 8 Bells. They have an excellent range of drinks with the Guinness being the must try. We will def be going back. I would advise booking in advance.

Went out for dinner with family – they all ordered from the main menu whilst I ordered ‘lots of salt and pepper calamari’ which turned out to be 5 squid rings and a huge pile of chips – no salt and pepper in sight.

I mentioned it when it was placed in front of me, but there did seem to be a language barrier between us and the server. I tried one ring just in case the flavour was in the batter, but they were just bland supermarket frozen squid rings. Not what I was expecting from a Thai restaurant at all.

I asked to return the food, which irritated the server who declared that I’d eaten lots of it! I’d literally eaten one squid ring and not touched the chips as I hadn’t even wanted those!! I refused a replacement meal based on her attitude… you never want someone angry with you cooking your next meal

The rest of our party enjoyed the food, pity it was spoiled by attitude.

Later another Thai lady came out to apologise and said that they used to do the S&P calamari but now serve it like this… the description in the menu needs to reflect this.

We weren’t charged for my dish… but they did very cheekily add a 10% service charge on the rest of the bill which we certainly would not have paid – we did though, just to not make any further fuss, but has put us off returning.

A great Irish Pub with a difference. A Thai restaurant, serving authentic food. All set in the Oxford countryside. They also do takeaway dishes.

Absolute hidden gem, we loved it! Looks like an unassuming village pub but contains an amazing Thai restaurant. Not exactly cheap but totally worth it to support a local business serving great foodz
