Highly recommend the Caesar salad and absolutely don’t miss the meatballs during happy hour—they’re a must-order. The asparagus was phenomenal, cooked just right, and every dessert we tried was excellent. The apple cobbler, in particular, is worth saving room for.
The atmosphere is calm and intimate with very dim lighting and moderate noise levels, making it ideal for a relaxed evening out. The bar area also looks fantastic and is a great spot to sit.
The entrance alone feels cinematic — like you’re walking into another era — and once you’re inside, it’s all golden ambiance, great music, and that effortlessly classy crowd that actually gets it.
The Drinks
Each cocktail is pure craftsmanship — balanced, inventive, and photo-ready. My personal favorite? The one that comes with the smoke flourish — dramatic in the best way.
The Vibe
Sophisticated, sultry, and slightly mysterious — like a modern Gatsby lounge without the pretentiousness. The bartenders are artists, and the staff moves with the kind of confidence that makes you feel you’re somewhere special.
Overall
Heirloom is the place to start or end your night in Reston. Perfect for date nights, girls’ nights, or anytime you want to look and feel like main-character energy.
If you’re tired of loud, basic bars and want something grown, sexy, and chic, Heirloom is your spot. ✨
Don’t try to find Heirloom by walking around Reston Town Center – you have to just know where to go – but it’s easy enough to find on line. When we arrived, we were escorted to an unmarked door that led into the restaurant. The booths provided plenty of privacy for our party, and we were met by a very amiable and attentive staff.
But the food! I started with Caesar Salad, which had a wonderfully flavorful dressing. The white anchovies provided an authentic accent to an otherwise creamy texture, all coming together for a great starter.
The memory that will forever stay with me was from the gnocchi I ordered for my main course. I’ve had gnocchi in some of the finest restaurants in the US as well as in Italy, but these were absolutely the lightest, most melt-in-your-mouth gnocchi I’ve ever tasted … even better than the ones my aunt in Italy made by hand for me years ago. And it didn’t just end with that; the spicy sausage ragout was a taste sensation, with creamy ricotta to balance the boldness of the sauce, and a bit of broccolini to tease my teeth with a bit of crunch. Fabulous!
Our charming and helpful waitress made the birthday I was celebrating even more special with a perfectly decorated dessert, and even a complimentary Champagne cocktail to put a perfect finishing touch on the evening.
One final note: if you are a wine drinker, don’t miss some of the unique selections on their list. I thoroughly enjoyed the Super Tuscan.
We chose Heirloom for my birthday dinner with close friends and family, and the entire evening was fantastic from start to finish. The restaurant has an elegant yet relaxed vibe with its speakeasy setting, and the staff made us feel welcomed right away. A special shout-out to Sarah, the manager, who stopped by our table personally to greet us—such a wonderful touch that set the tone for the evening.
We shared a variety of dishes, and every single one was exceptional:
Chopped Salad – Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced with the creamy parmesan vinaigrette and focaccia croutons.
Bourbon Glazed Pork Belly – Melt-in-your-mouth perfection, paired with creamy potato risotto and buttery cabbage.
Tuna Carpaccio – Light and refined, with a delicate smoked tonnato sauce and the right amount of acidity.
Oysters Rockefeller – Rich, smoky, and absolutely indulgent.
Red Wine Braised Short Rib – Fall-apart tender with a perfect horseradish potato puree.
Black Pepper Crusted Yellowfin Tuna – Perfectly seared and bursting with flavor.
Dry Aged Roasted Chicken – Juicy and perfectly complemented by mustard jus and grilled lemon.
For drinks, we tried several cocktails:
Barrel-Aged Maple Old Fashioned – Smooth and balanced with just the right touch of sweetness.
Eagle Eye Rye Gimlet – Refreshing, with a hint of vanilla and saline that made it unique.
Luigi vs. Mario – A playful, flavorful Negroni-style drink.
Bees Knees – Light, aromatic, and beautifully presented with honey foam.
Desserts were the perfect finale:
Sticky Toffee Pudding – Warm, rich, and buttery.
Apple Cobbler – Comforting and delicious with vanilla ice cream.
Chocolate Hazelnut Dome – Gorgeous presentation and indulgent flavor.
From start to finish, everything—from the ambiance and food to the service—was flawless. Heirloom is easily one of the best dining experiences in Reston, and we can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!
We weren’t asked ONCE if we wanted to order more food , drinks, how things were ,etc.
Empty plates were left for over 30 minutes.
It was honestly bizarre. We were disappointed because we left 3 kiddos with the babysitter to have a better experience than this !
