Coming here for over 30 years! I’ve been to a wide range of Japanese restaurants — from the really fancy expensive to the simple and cheap. This place sits at a fine balance with well prepared and luscious plates at an affordable price. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. Even with so many choices in the valley, this is my cozy go-to place. Btw if you haven’t been here before, the Kaiyaki is a must try!

Great little Japanese restaurant I used to frequent when I worked near by. Over 20 years later the food is still fantastic and almost exactly the same. It is of course known for their sushi and seafood but I really enjoy the tempura, which I get as all vegetables, the batter is super light and crispy and not too oily, which is very rare to find these days as many places tend to over batter there tempura. (Note that they now offer brown rice with meals that are trying to watch their carbs or have low glycemic meals) The miso soup that comes with many of the meals is excellent as well, they didn’t skimp on the miso so it doesn’t taste watered down like some restaurants. The server and sushi chef were also very friendly. If you are in the area it’s definitely worth a try. Honestly one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Los Angeles and I frequent areas like Little Tokyo and Torrence/Gardena. It really is a gem of the area. The only difficultly is the parking, not a lot of it near by, but if you can’t find a spot in the lot it is worth the walk from street parking.

Solid sushi place with probably the best service in town. Usually sit at the bar and get hamachi Kama and yellow tail belly. Their scallop is really good too and highly recommended. Uni is usually from santa Barbara and fresh. They also have a lunch hand roll special too.

If you’re looking for a cozy atmosphere with absolutely immaculate service, high quality fish, and just a perfect night out look no further than Miya Sushi. As soon as I walked in here I felt welcomed (Sonya has a simply angelic presence). The second time in I was formally “welcomed to the community” (exact words). I want this place to stay open forever, as much as I’m tempted to gatekeep. So go ahead and reserve a night out here. You will not regret it.
