This spot is a solid 7/10 spot if you’re craving a wide variety of Chinese and Japanese dishes. It’s classic American Chinese comfort food, and they truly have a little bit of everything.

I love the food here. The “Amazing Chicken” is Amazing. But the stand-out is the FOH Staff… especially the dark haired (really pretty) girl who works FOH. She was amazing — and it makes the food 300% more enjoyable. I will be returning!

Very nice atmosphere. Service okay but need to ask twice as a reminder. They walk away from the keno machine too often and you miss your game. All the food I ordered was delicious except fried calamari. Looked terrible and smelled fishy. Don’t let that sway you from enjoying this resturant. Very nice place and friendly staff.

First visit, the food was decent for American Chinese. The service was great. Nice atmosphere and clean. When it comes to American Chinese it’s hard to impress me, the food is either subpar or decent ha ha. Would definitely visit again as my boyfriend likes this place and the sushi was decent too. If you are in town or passing through I recommend stopping in as I am confident you won’t be disappointed and likely impressed.

Our new go-to Chinese and sushi place! We’ve gotten both lunch and dinner so far and are very impressed. Food is fresh, good quality, generous portions. The shrimp tempura is very lite and crunchy coating with sweet shrimp, the egg rolls are fresh made -not the frozen kind, the best crab ragoons ever and thick flavorful chicken teriyaki. Sushi is very well made, well above average. The rice is New York style Chinese, so up to individual preference, but honestly we barely got to the rice with all the yummy food options. Each time I go in intending to take pictures of the food, but immediately forget at the sight of it Will be going back regularly!

We wanted to try this restaurant again after a previous lackluster experience. We’re not against old fashioned American-style Chinese food, but this food is not good. The salt and pepper shrimp had uncooked flour in the batter and were inedible. The sweet and sour chicken was actually served as battered chicken fingers with a watery candy-red liquid. The beef chow fun was oily and mushy.
We ordered by uber eats after a long day, and we were surprised to see the driver waiting at the restaurant for a long time. We finally decided to call about an hour after the order was placed and were told they were out of the vegetables ordered and didn’t know how to proceed. They didn’t reach out to us, so if I didn’t call, the driver would probably still be waiting. We agreed to have the dish refunded.
After delivery, we realized we were also short on the spring rolls ordered. This time, when we called the restaurant, we were told we needed to phone back after 9pm to be considered for a refund for both dishes.
All things considered, a regrettable experience.

I’ve gone to this place before ages ago, liked it and thought to have takeout with some friends.
Friends got sushi and I got the general goa chicken and wished I ordered the sushi instead.
Portions was huge and the bites of chicken were enormous. But they were deeply breaded and difficult to chew. The texture wasn’t my favorite but the sauce was pretty good. The pork fried rice was passable, didn’t care for how it was seasoned, was better when mixed with the chicken sauce. The spring roll was crispy but the filling flavor was disappointing. The oil and the seasoning could’ve improved.
I don’t think I’d go again for the all day combo.

Very happy with our overall experience at Ginger Gourmet in North Reading! For drinks, we enjoy sitting at the bar and having either a mai tai or scorpion bowl for two. We had the General Gaus chicken combo special, beef lo mein and sushi. (Photos of sushi- Philadelphia and Spicy Tuna) The combination special has very generous portions and you will probably have leftovers. Highly recommend dining in or takeout/delivery.
