Small spot, delicious food!
Stopped by here on a rainy friday for lunch, and let me tell you the food is great.
We ordered the Matcha Crème Brûlée French Toast and the Wagyu Curry Udon, and MAN was this exactly what I needed. The french toast was so soft and fluffy with the satisfying crunch of brulee. The matcha flavor so distinct but not overpowering. It’s the perfect sweet brunch option.
The curry udon was so good too- great texture on the noodles with a subtle and smooth curry to pair with a crispy and delicious wagyu patty.
I also had the ube vietnamese coffee and this was so delicious as well.
This spot is very small so I don’t think it’s a good one for larger parties, but I definitely think this is one worth going to. I went for a brunch/lunch, but I definitely do think I need to return for dinner. Staff were so nice and attentive, and overall I had a good time eating here.
Prices are fair for what you get, and it’s a delicious meal.

This place is phenomenal. Every bite feels like a piece of art — beautifully plated, thoughtfully crafted, and bursting with flavor. The presentation alone makes you stop and appreciate what’s in front of you, but it’s the balance and creativity of each dish that really sets Mai apart.
From the sashimi to the rolls to the small plates — everything is fresh, layered with texture, and perfectly seasoned. You can tell the chef genuinely cares about quality and experience.
More people in Miami need to be talking about this place. It’s easily one of the best sushi/tapas spots in the city right now — stylish, intimate, and unforgettable.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you haven’t been yet, go soon. This spot won’t stay a secret for long.
My only suggestion: Saturday night, should have 2 people on the sushi line if possible. Or an assistant. Sushi does take a decent time.

If you’re looking for an elevated, soul-satisfying dining experience, look no further than Mai Sushi. From the moment we sat down for their omakase and sake pairing, it was clear this was going to be something special — and it absolutely exceeded every expectation.
The meal began with a delicate scallop bite that instantly set the tone: buttery, fresh, and expertly balanced with just the right touch of acidity. It was the kind of bite that makes you close your eyes and just feel the craftsmanship.
Then came the toro — rich, silky, and impossibly tender. Every piece melted on the tongue, leaving a trail of umami that paired beautifully with the crisp, floral notes of the first sake. The pairings throughout the night were spot-on, thoughtfully enhancing each course rather than overpowering them.
But Mai Sushi didn’t stop at seafood. Just when we thought we couldn’t be more impressed, out came perfectly cooked lamb — juicy, flavorful, and aromatic — followed by a decadent pork belly that was slow-cooked to perfection. It had the ideal ratio of fat to meat, with a caramelized edge that was just divine.
The sheer amount of incredible food was staggering, but somehow each course felt purposeful and refined. Every dish was a highlight in its own right — no filler, no shortcuts, just a continuous flow of creative, balanced, and beautifully executed bites.

“It wasn’t a good flavor experience. We explored the menu thoroughly, but the dishes didn’t deliver. The server was attentive and kind, which we appreciated. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but this visit didn’t meet expectations

I went for dinner and tried the Miami spice option. The passion fruit lychee and lychee martini were spot on. I had the gables role for starter and it was pretty tasty. The Japanese burger was also delicious. I will have to say the best thing is the girl that does the service, she does an amazing job. It is a pretty chill place. I recommend reserving because it’s small. It does feel like an authentic Japanese restaurant. They gave us a desert on the house since it was my birthday which I think it was a plus. I also saw on the table next to us how they have the option to put on Japanese robes and take a picture.

Nestled right on the iconic Miracle Mile, Mai Sushi Tapas Bar is one of Coral Gables’ newest spots. I decided to come eat here after a while feeling under the weather. My fiancé didn’t join me this time (gasp), but she still vicariously ate through pictures I sent her. Upon entering I was immediately taken care of and was sat at the bar per my request. The restaurant itself is just what you expect from a Coral Gables spot. It has a cool flair to it. It is much smaller than other places so expect to wait if you’re a bigger party on a busy night. To start things off I order a Manju Junmai Ginjo which was so sweet and easy on the palate. Then I ordered my food and really just went for it. I ordered two orders of sashimi featuring the hamachi and unagi. I ordered an uni sushi. And I ordered the 8 piece assorted sushi box. Once my order was taken care of I was sat waiting for a while. This allowed me to watch some anime (the OG Gundam was being projected onto a wall so that was dope to enjoy) while I waited for my food. Once it came out I was able to dig in and wow, let me just say this was amazing. Each cut was perfect and delicious and perfectly paired. The hamachi and unagi went so well together with the hamachi being cold and unagi hot. The assorted box could be eaten any way you’d like but I opted to do it in order from top left to bottom right and wow. Each sushi had such a fun unique flavor profile and was such a delight. The uni was a flavor bomb. One bite of it and I knew it was easily my top bite of the night. Once I finished my food I had to inquire about dessert. It is NOT featured on the menu but rather is word of mouth. I opted for the Chicha Morada Ice Cream which was such a nice refreshing palate cleanser to end the night. Overall though, this was such a nice surprise. We had been wanting to come here for a while and to see it actually lives up to the hype was so great to see. I will say the total cost was a tad high, but it’s Coral Gables so ya gotta roll with it. Regardless, I will definitely be coming here again (with my fiancé) to enjoy some bangin sushi! But until next time, folks!! Enjoy the meal!!!!

We had an absolutely amazing dinner here. Unassuming, intimate restaurant that easily accommodated our party of five. I asked for the vegan box listed on the menu, but was told they did not have all the ingredients to make the usual dishes, so the chef Kevin created a menu just for me. He was so creative, inventive, and excited about every dish he brought out of the kitchen, and each one was more delicious than the last. I am technically pescatarian, so a few of the dishes had fish sauce, but he would have easily accommodated me with a vegan or vegetarian menu as well. It was honestly one of the most incredible dining experiences I have ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Miami/ Coral Gables area.

Definitely giving a 5 star review. I have been to this restaurant couple times. The quality of the food is very consistent. The fish and vegetables are always fresh there. Chefs are very creative. You can tell the effort that they put in each dishes we ordered. Eating here just makes us happy. This joy comes from their fresh ingredients, good seasoning, and dedication from the chefs and staff.
Today, we ordered their new dish, Ocean Treasure. I love the variety of the sashimi and nigiri in this dish. Plus, the mini Kaisen Don just elevated the taste to another level.
I will keep coming back to this restaurant.

We stopped in here by chance, and I am so happy we did! The food and service were amazing! We got to meet the chef, and he was so welcoming and nice! My sister and I were blown away by the service… but the food! Wow! At the end, they brought us a dessert, and OH MY GOD!!!! I wish I had gotten the name because it wasn’t on the menu (It was a popsicle covered in something deliciously, I think green tea ice cream with flowers). Every bite was heavenly!
We will definitely be coming back! Thank you to the staff and chef for making a ramdom day feel so special! ♥️
I’ve added a few pictures we took. I wish we had taken one of everything, but it was all so good, and we enjoyed it so much, we forgot.
