Tried both the chicken and beef pasties. The pasties skin is excellent in texture, but for my taste, the flavor didn’t quite pop. It’s definitely a healthier option, though, which I appreciate.
The filling is generous, but I personally would’ve preferred less potato and more meat, which makes it feel a bit pricey for what you get. Still, it’s satisfying and filling.
The shop itself is tiny and cozy, maybe seats six people max. We chose to take ours to go, which worked out well. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for a quick bite or a quiet moment.

We planned our whole trip around this tiny pasty shop. We had never had one before and this was the place everyone said to go. And boy oh boy are our lives changed!
You are greeted by these wonderfully charming ladies who are so excited to see you. We ordered the beef pasty and the sausage pasty. Each one is this huge pastry filled with hot meat and onions. It’s like a warm hug from the inside. We only wish we could have been eating these with the cold chill of winter instead of the heat of peak summer.
If you are traveling there bring a cooler! You will want to take some frozen ones home so you don’t go through pasty withdrawals!

Clearly made with mastery and high quality ingredients that deliver the perfect taste and texture every time. Get a few cold ones to go because they stay fresh for days in the fridge. They make the perfect lunch or dinner for working people just as they have for centuries.

Excellent spot! And they are way less expensive than the other spot down the street- and nicer too! We got two pasties here, and later my husband decided to try the other spot, and he paid $2 more for his one, than we paid here for two! Highly recommend, delicious and a good deal!

Delicious pasties!
The apple pasty is at least an 11/10
Marshall’s has a nice cozy atmosphere and excellent service. I have not had a bad pasty from them.
It’s best to place your order ahead of time so they don’t sell out.

Great pasties at a reasonable price. Got a backers dozen to go and ate a beef. It was excellent.

Veggie pasties from Marshall’s Pasties are my favorite nostalgic food to get whenever I’m back in Grass Valley! Having lived above Marshall’s Pasties (2005 through 2008ish) you would think I would have gotten to the point where I had eaten enough veggie pasties to last a lifetime, but I’m nowhere close to being sick of them. Whenever I’m in the area, I make sure to get a bunch to keep in the freezer, but they always go fast! They are very flavorful — flakey crust that is the perfect level of softness, and filling that is to die for. Don’t leave off the malt vinegar! Plus pasties are like soup you can hold!

DELICIOUS. Love the varieties and the fact that you can pick small or large sizes. Their sausage pasties are excellent, as are the turkey. The crust is flaky, buttery deliciousness and complements the fillings perfectly. Do yourself a favor and save room for an apple dessert pasties. Prices are very reasonable. Just an FYI, they are cash only!

Small downtown Grass Valley, California restaurant serving delicious pasties. I had the small beef and the small veggie pasties, both were very tasty and we’re served hot. Dining in their restaurant was comfortable but there are only about 10 places to sit. This is primarily a take out restaurant as the majority of the customers took their food to go. The staff was awesome and parking is across the street in the city lot. I will be back to try more of the other flavors. Cash or check only. No cards.

Delicious pasties. Some options sell out quickly so it’s a good idea to place an order a few days in advance. The apple pasty was amazing 11/10!
