It’s quite difficult to find good Asian restaurants in a small town like Brownwood, so we honestly didn’t expect much when we first visited Katana. But the moment I tried their sushi, I was genuinely impressed. The flavors were fresh, well-balanced, and far better than what you would normally find in a small-town restaurant.

I ordered the Cowboy Roll, while my partner had the Aloha Roll, and both were excellent. We also tried the hibachi chicken, and the portion was incredibly generous — big enough for the two of us to share comfortably. Everything tasted great, and the quality really stood out.

The service was also wonderful. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Considering the portion sizes and the food quality, the prices are still very reasonable.

Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our experience. Katana is definitely a hidden gem in Brownwood, and we will absolutely be coming back again. Highly recommended

“I’m originally from Dallas and came to Brownwood to visit my grandmother. My cousin took me to Katana, and I was honestly surprised by how good the sushi was. I ordered a few rolls — I remember one was the Cowboy Roll, and I forgot the name of the other one — but both were absolutely delicious.

I also really loved their crab rangoon, so much that I ordered extra to take home. The restaurant is clean, the food tastes fresh, and the service is fast and friendly.

If I lived here, I would probably come at least once a week. Before I head back to Dallas, I’m definitely planning to visit this restaurant again for dinner. Highly recommended

I really love the ramen here , the broth tastes rich and authentic, not the instant kind. I’m actually not a big fan of sushi, but after trying the sushi at this place, I ended up really liking it.
I ordered the spicy miso ramen and a few sushi rolls, and everything was delicious. The flavors were fresh, the portions were good, and the overall quality truly exceeded my expectations.
Definitely a spot I would come back to again!

I go to college in Brownwood and before moving here I was hoping I would find a place that had sashimi and ramen, etc. When I found this restaurant, I fell in love! my first time I met a waitress from Guatemala (where I am from too) which was so amazing! I went there again for my birthday and got my picture taken! The staff is always so nice! I love sashimi and this place has some of the best sashimi I have had. I order take out a lot and I never have any issues. I’m so happy I have 2 more years left here so I can enjoy my favorite restaurant longer! 🙂

This establishment is terrific! Our server was Shawn and he was very attentive and friendly. He was very attentive. We ordered vegetable tempura and spicy edamame as appetizers. The vegetable tempura was fried perfectly, the veggies were not mushy which normally happens. The spicy edamame was spicy but done well. I ordered the lunch chicken hibachi and it was super delicious! The meat to vegetable ratio was perfect! My husband ordered the angry dragon roll and it was visually appealing and was very delicious. The portions were large for lunch specials. This is a great place to eat!

The atmosphere was quaint and perfect for hibachi and sushi. The staff was professional, clean, and excellent. The sushi was fresh and each roll was a large portion. DELICIOUS! The hibachi and teriyaki was so good and healthy. The portions were very generous. A welcomed surprise to our family that loves Sushi and Hibachi!

I’ve been here 3 times over the course of 2 months. Everytime I come here the food just varies in quality and quantity. First time it tasted great not drowning in sauce and the hibachi chicken was juicy. Second time I come and get the hibachi chicken, chicken was dry with hardly any sauce and the vegetables tasted old somehow. The third and final time, the hibachi chicken was drowning in sauce and the rice was covered in it too, and the vegetables still tasted old. The sauce they use doesn’t really taste like anything either. I’ll just start making Asian food at home cause there’s not a good asian restaurant in town. The service here is not very good either. I started ordering 2 glasses of water because I’d finish my water and wouldn’t get a refill until my meal was done, even though I flagged someone down and asked for more.

Update: You can have tender chicken if you don’t overcook it. Even when it’s cut up into chunks as your restaurant does, if you don’t overcook it like crazy it will be tender. I cook chicken all the time in chunks, cubes, thin strips, whole, without marinating and can still turn out more tender cuts of chicken, no matter where the cut of meat is in reference to the breast bone or fascia, as you say. The vegetables wasn’t a matter of soft or crisp. You can taste when vegetables have been likely cut up for a while and they are just now being used. They tasted old.

Now regarding my other reviews, I had time finally to write a few as I work 7 days a week and finally had a day off. It seems you’re little stalking adventure, only showed you receiving a bad review. So I hope this clarified your sight and calmed you down. The fact that you stalk and argue with people that leave bad reviews shows you are not at peace. Learn to take criticism from reviews and improve.

We visited this restaurant to celebrate my child’s birthday, and everything exceeded our expectations. The food was incredibly delicious, with generous portions and a great variety of side dishes that made the meal even more enjoyable.

The service was outstanding — the staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. They surprised us with a complimentary tempura ice cream for the birthday celebration, and even took a photo of our family to display on their wall.

We truly appreciated the thoughtful gestures and the overall hospitality. We will definitely return. Highly recommended and a very satisfying experience

I have been here twice now. Being from the east coast, I’m pretty spoiled on finding more ethnic type foods pretty easily. I’d have to say, Katana is definitely up there with my east coast foods! The atmosphere is fun, it’s been busy every time I’ve gone in. The sushi rolls are pretty, tasty and massive, so you definitely get your money’s worth. The ramen has been on point both times. Service can be a little slow, but all wait staff are friendly and accommodating. I’m definitely going to continue to visit!
