Great spot for gluten free fried chicken, papaya salad, and other Thai flavors. Both the fried chicken and grilled chicken were excellent – flavorful, crispy, and juicy. The papaya salad was unique and very tasty. Hard to find a good green papaya salad here in the US. Great team taking orders and delivering food to tables. The outdoor seating area is nothing fancy, but works and the overhead heaters work well to keep you warm as you eat on a cooler day. Definitely will be return customers!

I know Nashville is THE place to try Hot chicken but SS GAI has their own take on their Thai Fried chicken and it did not disappoint us.
Amazing service and the owner is very friendly . I don’t know how they managed to get the perfect crispy layer on top and still have the chicken inside moist!! They top the chicken with fried shallots and it’s a game changer . Really good place and would highly suggest this hidden gem! I enjoyed their Thai Iced tea as well!

This is a MUST EAT if visiting Nashville. Incredible menu, friendly service and highly personable owner operator who is uktra passionate about Thai food, and your experience. Just made the 2025 Michelin Guide, super fun and unique part of East Nashville with other great options in the food court style experience, lots of options next door for picky family eaters – but if you are in search of incredible Nashville Chicken + Thai flair, SS Gai will not dissapoint! Super easy/ quick Uber ride from downtown, safe and walkable neighborhood in East Nashville.

I had been hearing really good things about SS Gai for the last several months – and I was NOT disappointed at all when I went for lunch this week! The restaurant is in Bay 3 of The Wash, and had a small line when I got there. I ordered the 2 piece chicken and was shocked at how much chicken it was when it came! It was so delicious, but a little messy if you want to use the lettuce as wraps! Worth the mess, though. I also got an order of the crispy mango rice which was fantastic – it was crunchy, warm, and covered with this sweet mango sauce that was amazing. Highly recommend coming here when you can. They are planning on opening a full restaurant soon and I’m excited to see if they have other great options available.

Gai is for chicken (in thai) , what’s the SS stand for? This Hat Yai was so good that I didn’t even eat my sticky rice with it and I love sticky rice. The garnish with chicken made into a wrap is delicious. I took mine to go and warmed it up later. I can’t imagine how good it is fresh. My time i’ll try the Som Tom also.

This spot was recommended to me by my tattoo artist who lives in Chattanooga. I can tell why! It’s so good I had to bring my sister here. The mango sticky rice is a must desert to follow!!

Great little spot with the bold/exotic flavors of Thai fried chicken. Part of ‘The Wash’ food court, there’s something for everyone, and the outdoor seating is defo a vibe. Staff was cool/helpful. Thai Chicken Sandwich with the lemongrass chili oil was flavorful and plenty spicy. I recommend with the burnt coconut (drink) for not only the complimentary flavor but also to help neutralize the heat. They’ll even crack the coconut and provide a spoon post facto for a little tail-end treat. Will be back to try other menu items real soon.

We ordered the Gai Yang (grilled chicken) and Gai Tod (fried chicken) plus Sweet Potato Cabbage Salad, Burnt Coconut and Thai Ice Tea drinks. The Gai Yang was amazing, smokey taste of the skin mixed with the juicy chicken, shallots and dipping sauces. Paired with the tasty stick rice. Really delicious. The Gai Tod had a great crispy skin and juicy chicken too. I would get both again!

Delicious and authentic Thai spot for a great meal. I lived in Thailand previously and can confidently say that SS Gai knows how to cook Thai fried chicken, sticky rice, and som tam. The mango sticky rice cubes were a unique treat and the Thai iced tea was energizing! Definitely worth a trip. Seating is outdoors and can be a little chilly depending on the weather. Great experience!

My husband and I both got the Thai Chicken Sandwich. This is the kind of place that will give you food dreams and intense cravings. They got everything right from the bun, to the cook on the chicken, to the crispy breading, and freshness with the garnishes. It’s honestly the perfect chicken sandwich. Thank you SS Gai for ruining all other chicken sandwiches for us. The bar has been raised. Their Thai tea also was amazing and they even had a dairy free option.
We will 100% be back and can’t wait to share this gem with all our friends and family!
