The atmosphere is homely and unassuming. The staff is super friendly and helpful and legit care about your order. And the food. Let’s talk about the food.
I got the catfish sandwich. It was the entire reason I picked this place. It was damn near perfect. Not overcooked, not overbattered. Unassuming, simple presentation. Absolutely delicious, flaky, juicy, and actually a really good sized filet on the sandwich. The fries were crispy and fresh. And then I tried the Key Lime cake and that was excellent too.
If these folks come up with a house made remoulade for the sandwich they’re gonna destroy everyone else. Because it’s already good and that would put it over the top.
I’m definitely coming back, Ya’ll made me feel welcome and put heart into the food. Well done.
This morning, I did a DoorDash order for a Chicken Wing breakfast with Hash-browns, and a Grits Bowl. My order, the Chicken Wing basket with Hash browns was missing the hash-browns and the restaurant substituted them grits. I tend to not order grits because I’m really sensitive to dairy products. I assume most restaurants make their grits with butter, milk, or heavy cream so I don’t order.
I called the restaurant, and I spoke with the manager who explained that they were out of hash-browns due to going viral recently and having a catering event. I explained that I visit the restaurant often, and if I would have just been notified of the outage, I could have subbed the item for something else on the menu, like their fresh fruit or a refund. I got neither.
My husband had the Philly, and I went for the huge burger—so big I could barely finish it, but it was just as good warmed up later. The onion rings? Absolutely amazing.
What really made the visit stand out, though, was the staff. TJ was excellent—full of positive energy, a great attitude, and genuinely welcoming. I wish more places had employees like him. We’ll definitely be back!
