Love Sushi restaurant is a surprising hidden gem that one would never know to exist in this sleepy part of town. With ubiquitous Americanized sushi spots scattered across the US, Love Sushi seems to command a loyal customer following with their succulent, fresh tasting, relatively generous sushi sashimi offerings. And by loyal, I mean there are prior-Gaithersburg residents of whom I know a few who would drive from Virginia OR always plan a stop when passing by just to eat or grab takeout from Love Sushi.
What really sets Love Sushi apart is just their freshness and portions as the food you order is certainly not from commercial sushi factories. The sushi, sashimi taste like it is cut from the fish and not from defrosted pre-portioned sashimi-grade blocks, especially given the limited number of grilled fish collars available each day. And fried items (vegetable tempura, grilled fish collar) taste freshly prepared from scratch with no hint of heat-lamp dryness or off-putting par-cooking textures. Oh, and their miso soup uses real miso paste and is not watered down like some other places.
There is no unique species of seafood here; nor some fusion dish that you think might show up on some future food network episode; nor traditional Japanese technique by a Japanese imported chef. And once you discover that Love Sushi is owned & operated by Hongkongers, you might be inclined to find their Hong Kong food passion in your entree or takeout if you decide to stop by. Overall, this is pleasant food find to add to your list should you ever need a quality sushi fix.

The lunch special deal, 3 sushi rolls for $14 is a great deal. Opportunity to try a good assortment of sushi for a cheap price. You can get higher quality sushi elsewhere but it would also likely come with a much higher price. The calamari appetizer was okay but I probably wouldn’t get it again. I would recommend this place for the value of the lunch special sushi.

The sushi here is fresh and flavorful. I really enjoyed the Shrimp Tempura Roll, Eel and Asparagus Roll, and Tuna Roll. The wasabi is mild and not overly pungent, which complements the tuna roll perfectly. My friend especially liked the Mackerel Ginger Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Yellowtail Roll. Everything we tried was well-prepared and satisfying.

Love Sushi is a solid go-to when you want sushi that actually delivers without trying too hard. The fish tastes fresh, the rolls are generously sized, and the menu has enough variety to keep things interesting whether you’re ordering classics or branching out. Service is fast and relaxed, prices feel fair for the quality, and the vibe works just as well for a casual night out as it does for a low-key date. Very consistent, reliable, and worth coming back to, which is more than most places manage. Amazing food!

My son loves sushi, so I decided to swing by the restaurant and check it out. We ordered some summer rolls ( which I did not like at all because it was COMPLETELY different from a usual SR . The shrimp tempura was delicious.

Sushi is not fresh and it’s bulky. Fried rice overly salty and greasy. I have a tummy ache from their bubble tea bobas. The worst thing is I found smth yucky after already eating two of my sushi and asked to take it off. They refused. I wasn’t going to wait until they give me more of their yucky sushi. I was going to leave and asked for the bill but they wouldn’t give me the bill. Instead they took me hostage for one whole hour until their manager showed up just to give me what I asked for – my bill. These people came and going to hell. They even ridiculed me and laughed while I was sitting waiting for the bill. Called love sushi but it stands for hate sushi!

This place has some of the best sushi in the DC metro area. Good specials with reasonable prices. I’ve gotten platters from them numerous times. I’m always asked, “where did you get this from?”.

We LOVE the shrimp tempura roll here. You can hardly miss here—even the non-sushi items on the menu are good. I also like dining in because the staff are incredibly kind!

LOVE Sushi isn’t the fanciest Japanese restaurant you’ll ever find, but it is a great place, well located near Home Depot, that serves some very unique Sushi with friendly service. Also… it’s no big deal to bring groups.

We have been coming here since 2019. Nely has been our favorite server since I can remember. Nely is so sweet and knows the menu back and forth. The fish is so fresh and the presentation is impressive.
