On the first visit, we tried the famous wet and dry rice cakes. They looked impressive but didn’t quite deliver on flavour for me. We also ordered the roll-your-own cold rolls: fresh, good-quality ingredients and well executed. I’m personally not a fan of the tiny rice paper sheets, but I can see how they work for this dining style. I had the combination broken rice, it was satisfactory, what you would expect, and I had an avocado smoothie, which was enjoyable.
The second visit I was after something lighter and went with the grilled chicken noodle salad. Fresh ingredients, tasty overall and it didn’t need much sauce/dressing at all. My only critique was the chicken being quite pink, I left a few pieces as I’m a bit cautious with undercooked chicken, but flavour-wise, everything else was on point.
My partner had the combo rice noodle soup with pork, seafood and quail eggs, which really hit the spot. The broth was especially good.
Drink-wise, I tried the new oolong fruit tea this time, think peach iced tea with a fruity twist.
Overall, this is a solid quick-eat option. It’s also surprisingly hard to find a good roll-your-own cold roll spot, so the consistent queue out front isn’t just because the venue is small, it’s because it clearly delivers for its customers.
I’ll try to find the photos I took from our first visit and add later.
The taste is like when I was in Danang.
I recommend you to try bbq pork with peanut sauce. This restaurant is to die for.
But the cons is so long queue and just a small shop.
Some dishes were delicious, others were just okay. The desserts were fine.
Thank you.
Second visit:
Pad Thai:don’t order it. There was too little noodles, they were overcooked and mushy, completely lacking texture, and the flavor couldn’t compare to authentic Thai Pad Thai. I really wish they would make a new one. Don’t wanna grab second bite …
Rice cake :it was okay, like a street snack. You can choose between dry and wet; I went with wet, which adds an extra layer of sauce. Overall, it was crispy and refreshing.
Combination main platter same as last time. but meat pieces were too big this time. Before ordering, I’d suggest asking them to cut the pork into smaller pieces so it’s easier to wrap. Also, if you want an extra serving of lettuce, you’ll need 4 AUD . Lettuce not cheap to be honest….Wrapping a few rolls made me feel full, so we skipped ordering rice noodle this time.
A traditional Vietnamese sweet drink is always a must.
